I must admit that there is not one parable in the bible that can't be understood by a 5 year old. Maybe one or two but a 10 year old could grasp those. In regards to Satan not understanding a parable in the bible... I am not sure I can buy that. So if Satan were to read some of the parables of Jesus he wouldn't understand them is what you guys are saying?

I am currently 6 months in to my disappearance. I have received text messages from 4 of the 12 elders in the hall. Yes text messages. I got one call from a brother who asked me how I have been and then proceeded to try and sell me some pre-paid legal services via some weird pyramid scheme. The secretary came by once and my wife screamed at him. These people are not your true friends. They are acquaintances... nothing more. They aren't willing to die for you - they will die for what the WTBTS tells them to die for which just so happens to be you.

Why leave one religion only to join another one??
by Monsieur ini read how many here have learned ttat, leave the jw faith, but then subscribe to the 'true' gospel of jesus.. it seems rather contradictory.
the jw faith teaches a very positive 'concept' of christ and his teachings, how is this different from the way other religions teach it?.
it seems more logical to discard or ignore any claims of historic or authentic proof of christ's existence.

I think some are missing the point. Illustrations and parables are fine... they make sense. For the most part they can be understood on the spot and if one is interested would ask more. After all what idiot listening to the good samaritan or even the "faithful slave" wouldn't understand that to some degree.
I am referring to people thinking that a bunch of numerology and date crunching and symbolism is howgod decided to inform all of mankind about a significant event that means their lives. For instance the prophecy of Daniel and this whole made up 1914 thing. The 2520 days = years cuz 360 days in a lunar blah blah blah blah...
Come on man, there is no point to that besides mental gymnastics for overreaching egoists

Me and my wife decided to just go smoke some cigars and drink scotch in the backyard.
Its like 93 degrees here in Florida and she got sick and threw up. Then she laughed about it and ate some ice cream - so we created yet another memory.
Screw this whole watchtower thing. Its a huge time dump that alienates you from the real world.
My wife says, I would hate to have to live 1000 years trying to be perfect only to have to go through this Sh*& again.
It's easier to get my 80+ years and just die happy.

Thanks all for the many responses! I read them all and appreciate them. I had a call from my sister because she said my mom is already telling people I have turned my back on the organization. I knew this was going to happen so I am not surprised - its just a shame that a person can reason that they must go to these drastic measures to help people.

@Gromstik the best thing like you said is avoid debate.
Tw days ago we discussed the 1975 lie. She said they never said anything to lead the brothers to thnik that. She said she read all the magazines etc... it was just the brothers distorting their words.
So I took out the magazines that talked about the remaining months of the system. How only a few years were left. The audio from the 60's saying only 83 months left in this system.
She said where did I get this from... apostate website... I showed her the articles and she said that it is no longer on the Watchtower CD sdo that it cant be confirmed... I said well let me show you in the bound volume over there that you have and she told me thatI better not dare touch it... The truth is something they cant face

Wholly - I was not allowed to associate with her during that period. It hurt us as a family badly because she moved into a small small apartment literally down the street from us. Not even a full block. Yet we could not go see her. You wonder how people end up in these cults and never realize how screwed up they are. Then you look at yourself and think , "Who am I to talk".

@Wholly - so sorry to hear. That is truly sad...
My sister was the black sheep. Because my mother thought she was dating aco-worker she told her @19 she had to be home from work by 8 p.m. or she would be put out. Needless to say she put her out. I was 11 at the time. I was told to never see her because she was in satans hands. Mind you she wasnt even baptized. 2 years went by and we never saw her. She appears with a child. My mother told her, "It is a shame my first grand baby is a bastard..." My sister left again that night... I would get into how wrecked her life became. Ultimately she has 4 boys by 3 men but got her life in order. unfortunately she got baptized a year ago after years of pressure from my mother. Her life is horrible now.
This organization literally produces some of the most screwed up people you will ever met.
This weird feeling of worshipping this loving God who at the same time is sooo eager to kill millions of people at Armageddon. We live in constant fear always hoping we are doing enough to make him happy - when in actuality he asks for very little
