In shock.
by lulu inlast night(tuesday) an announcement was made in our congregation that my husband and i had disassociated ourselves.
we did no such thing(for personal reasons) nor was any document whatsoever given to the local elders or anyone else.
nevertheless, that is what happened, apparently no letter of resignation is required.

Congregation get-togethers

about every 6-9 months, mine would have a congregation picnic.
people would bring food, and we would play a softball game.

I remember going to some gatherings say on a Saturday night, and invariably we always ended up having to go over the
Watchtower for the Sunday meeting. It seems like just when you were having fun, it was time to study. Geez, they just
could'nt spare one damn evening without some sort of "spiritual food". I began to hate cong. gatherings after a while, especially the
stupid "entertainment nights" we had, where people would sing or do some sort of cheesy skit or something, kind of like the
Gong Show gone horribly wrong. What really fried my ass was that sometimes people would be chosen to go on the stage
to do some game or whatever, and the only people that were ever asked to participate were either Elders or Pioneers, or the
elder's wives. Talk about stuck up! It was really awful.
I can truly say that I have never met a more snooty, nose-stuck-in-the-air group of people in my life.

It is not that I don't believe the allegations, for I have been a victim myself. But people get to where they attack just for the
sake of attacking. It goes back to the old saying that there are bad apples in every bunch, or on every tree. There is good and
bad anywhere you go. It is not just unique to JWs. People need to remain balanced because if we don't, this forum will
develop a reputation for nothing but a place to slander and distort. I certainly would not want to be guilty of that. We need to
be SURE before we make allegations, otherwise it is just empty gossip.

by Lin ini was born and raised a dub, and i've never been able to understand how jw's can claim to be a worldwide united "brotherhood" when there is so much racism within the org.
when i was 14, my father noticed that i liked a black teenage brother in our hall.
there wasn't anything to it, we weren't dating secrectly or otherwise, i simply liked him and thought he was a cutie.

I'm being DA by my family

i just had to post on this.... i received a letter from my mother friday telling me that she and my father no longer wish to associate with my husband or me.
they will contact me in case of emergency but thats it.

I know how you feel-my parents treat me the same way. It is really horrible what these people promote, haughtiness,
self-righteousness and snootiness at it's best. I guess it makes other JWs feel really big to put inactive or DFd family members
down. It's kind of like belonging to an exclusive club, a members only type of thing. Only the JW "elite" are invited to
gatherings, etc. Totally pathetic unchristian behavior at it's best.
Your mom is the one losing in this whole thing. Maybe someday she will come to her senses, but don't count on it.
Make yourself happy.
