I have to agree that I did not hear any real admissions from the WT, but they did not deny anything either. Although I would say the situation is definintely fishy, the guy recording the phone call seemed to be a little too confident.

District Assembly Instructions
by RubaDub inam i too thin-skinned or does anyone find that annual km insert dealing with the district assembly offensive???.
i mean, having to read and comment on those same things every year about not cooking in your hotel room, not to steal food if breakfast is offered, not to poop in the sinks, or whatever they say.
if you have to give those "reminders," it makes you wonder about the people you are sitting next to during the sessions.. *****rub a dub

Here are my instructions:
First, during the noon intermission, while everyone is eating and distracted, sneak down to the stage area and
discreetly grab a microphone. Then, put it to your rear end and rip the biggest fart known to man. It will echo throughout the
colisuem, deafening everyone. Watch sandwiches drop to the floor and potato chips flying through the air.
Pretty demented huh??
Just kidding Vita

JW's and stuff
by JoeSomebody init appears as if this is a haven for those who hate the jehovah's witnesses.
if that is too tough of a stance, then this place is a haven for those who hate the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.

Joe-
Welcome. I just wanted to say that while I respect you're position, I personally do not agree with everything the Society says.
You know as well as I do that in order to remain in good standing with the cong. you pretty much have to accept and agree
with what they say. If you do not, you are labeled as a "problem" or otherwise. There are many positive aspects to the
Witnesses, but I just can't buy the whole bag. I mentioned this to a JW family member recently and I was told that to
disagree with the Society is to disagree with God. Who ever said that the Society was synonymous with God?? This is a
classic example of what I object to. How can we ever make intelligent informed decisions as people if when as a JW, you
are really not to question what the Society says???
As for Jehovah forgiving sin, yes he does. But who is to say that JWs are the only Holy Spirit directed people
in the world? Why would he choose to bless only one religious organization in the world? Reality is that imperfect people
make up religious groups. I personally do not feel that he blesses entire groups just because they are who they say they are.
I think if a persons heart condition is truly pure, then God would have reason to bless that individual, but not necessarily the
whole group.
When Judgement day does finally arrive, I do not think that God will be above saying that ONLY JWs will be
permitted into the paradise earth. What about all the fine people in this world who have never been JW and probably never
will be, who lead clean, honest and moral lives? Are they going to be struck down just because they did not join the Jehovah's
Witnesses? Come on! There are so many issues with JWs I have, as I was one for over 20 years. I am not DF or DAd, just very
inactive. There are so many more issues here I would like to discuss, but it would be too long. After some serious soul searching,
you too may begin to see what I am saying. I do have a love for our creator, but I will not live by a dictated faith by men.
I just don't think religion was meant to be that way.
Thanks. VIta

JWs and Xmas
by scotsman inin today's copy of the scotsman there's an article on people that don't celebrate christmas for a variety of reasons and sure enough a witness family are featured.
they are spending christmas day on the beach in the canary islands and after pointing out the fact that the 25th is christ's birthday go on to say.
"it would be churlish to say that our children are not affected by peer pressure about christmas, but we feel bigger issues are at stake - independant thought and standing up for what you believe in.

I have been wondering lately why JWs are so against Christmas anyway. I was doing some research the other day
on the history of many of our "worldly" traditions and was suprised to find out that even wedding ceremonies have their
own "bad" background. It seems that during early wedding ceremonies, the ushers and bridesmaids all wore clothing that
was similar, (as is done today), because it was believed that the evil spirits would not be able to distinguish them from the
bride and groom, who were supposed to be protected from evil on their wedding day. Also, the bridal bouquet was filled with
herbs and different flowers to ward off the evil spirits as well. Even the tradition of having ushers and groomsmen was for
making sure the bride did not run away as marriages were sometimes forced by kidnappings, and the groom had his men
to make sure the bride did not leave.
This is all so interesting to me mainly because the JWs emphasize avoiding anything even remotely tied to pagansism or
anything "demonic" of any kind. How can JWs pick and choose? If Christmas is so wrong, than why would they allow
traditional wedding ceremonies to take place in their KHs? I know this is sort of to the extreme reasoning maybe on my part, but
to me, if they are going to play by their own rules, come on!!! I even researched Mothers Day, Fathers Day, and Thanksgiving,
and could not find anything negative about any of them. So, why are the JWs so against holidays anyway? What is their big
beef? Is it just to make a statement for the sake of being different? Take birthdays even. If you, as a JW, are allowed to observe
the birth of your marriage, than why not the birth of your child? How on earth is this taking anything away from God? How is it
even a disrespect to him?? I really do not understand their line of reasoning anymore, it is not consistent. Sure, alot of our
customs are rooted in paganism, but everything had a beginning somewhere in this world, you could go on infinitly about
where something began. But why does that have to affect the meaning of something today??? Especially when it no longer
even resembles what the pagans did.
So, what do you think about these issues????
Just my commentary.

Ever been to a "quick-build"?
by WingCommander in" for anyone not that familiar with jw lingo, it is when everyone in the congregation gets together to raise a new kingdom hall in about a week, or a weekend.
kind of like the amish do when they have "barn raisings.
" lol.

I remember going to a quick remodel in our congregation and there was some silly rule about not being allowed to wear
logo shirts of any kind. Say like you had a shirt that said "Nike" or something, you were not wear it. You had to look
totally generic. I even saw brothers putting masking tape across the logos on their t-shirts- one of the silliest things I have ever
seen. I got really fried over that whole remodel thing, I volunteered to assist and one of the Elders who kept everyones
service time on his home computer said he had to look up my service time first to see if I "qualifed". ONLY active witnesses
were allowed to participate apparently. I did go and help, but really did not enjoy it. It seemed like it was an "elite" of the
congregation activity only. So ridiculous. They have to make a federal case out of absolutely everything, right down to
the "qualified" people who have the high honor at assemblies of "restroom attendant". Oooooooooooh!
Thanks! Vita
