" but in the next paragraph it says that just as the tithing arrangement was not optional for the israelites, meeting attendance is also not optional for christians.
the first page of the february 2004 kingdom ministry tells us why.
"during times designated for worship"
OK, where are the five meetings times JWs gather mentioned in the Bible?
"time set aside for the worship of Jehovah"
The meetings really are times set aside for the worship of the "Watchtower Bible and Tract Society"!

i have a question.
i was reading about russell figuring the date 1914 from the great pyramid.
how do the jws explain it now?it seems that is one of the teachings that hasnt changed.by that i mean the date.
Berean Bible Manual contained 20 different proofs for the year 1914?
Is this where the Bible Students said that "a thing is established by two or three witnesses" and since they had TWENTY different proofs, the year 1914 was established beyond doubt?
Now they only have one proof, the others went poof!
They do not know what proof, evidence and facts are! Of course, one day's proof is discarded by the "new light" (tm) of the following day.
One Watchtoer Circuit Overseer (CO) said that keeping up with "The Truth"(tm) is like keeping up with a moving circle of light cast by a searchlight. As the light circle moves, you would have to move along with it to remain in the light, if you stood still, you would be in darkness.
So the 19 old proofs of 1914 have long been left in the darkness.

P.S. The scripture says "the light gets brighter and brighter" not that it moves around! Something is wrong with that CO's illustration!

Also, larc, didn't you mention that your family knew Rutherford's nurse? Did she have anything to say about Rutherford?

Strange.....The "Blood Card" is to inform medical workers not to give blood transfusions to the bearer.
For years it has also served the dual purpose of an identification card for JWs.
Can one be an active JW in good standing and NOT have a Blood Card?
Also, it has been said by the Watchtower or by their representatives that they have no membership roles....this is FALSE, the publisher cards in the congregation are a de facto membership role.

Well, the story as told by (and written by WT writers!) the nuclear scientist is what I want to read. It would be nice to get the actual issue though. Just to keep to see if anything in it is changed by the time the next bound volumes or WT CD comes out.
I was hoping that someone would scan and post the article here. There are not that many nuclear physicists who are also a JW, so it would be interesting to read what he has to say. This article might result in an interesting discussion here. (GermanJW had this idea, but his copy of the article is in German!)

Well, Rutherford died in 1942, and I don't think the Social Security Death Index goes back that far, at least the online version doesn't. Also, someone posted Rutherford's death certificate once here, and I recall that in the Social Security Number field on the form was the entry "None" I think Rutherford might have been pass retirement age when the Social Security system was started.
