  rutherford ruled the watchtower organization from 1916 to 1942, traveled extensively, had several residences, most notably, beth sarim.

  but absent always was his wife, mary, not to mention his son, malcolm as well.. ok, rutherford was so well known, why did no one inquire about his son and wife?.

  when rutherford resided at beth sarim in san diego, why was his wife not there with him?

  In fact only FOUR people attended the funeral of this so-called "world Bible expert." Knorr and Franz did not even bother to attend his funeral.

  All indications are that nobody could stand being around Rutherford!

  There was talk even of some congregations (companies then) signing a "loyalty" oath to Brother Rutherford. This was during the time of the Moyle trial.

  In 1929, 13 years into his reign, Beth Sarim was built, to get Rutherford away from Brooklyn, he was interferring too much in the operations!

  What was it about him that he could have a following of a large number of witnesses, but those who worked with him and knew him wanted him to go away?

  But still, no one would speak out or say anything against him, either then, or now.

  Leolaia, that is some great research you did. I would like a copy of that census page.

  OK, Rutherford was so well known, why did no one inquire about his son and wife?

  When Rutherford resided at Beth Sarim in San Diego, why was his wife not there with him? (She lived in California)

  Did his wife or son ever communicate with Rutherford? Did Rutherford ever communicate with his wife or son?

  There is no indication that Rutherford even visited, or was visited, by either his wife or son.
  When he died, neither attended his funeral (as far as I know)

  Mary and Malcolm never said anything about Rutherford, strange considering the influence "The Judge" had over so many people over so many years.

  Was their silence bought? perhaps with money?

  So what is the deal? There is something important here about Rutherford that is still an uncovered secret after all these years.

  Is there anyone left alive who would know?

  There must be someone here who would know where the answer could be obtained.

  The answer must be found!

  What Questions From Readers Doesn't Tell You

  the sept. 1 watchtower has a question from readers concerning the 144,000. it asks how we know if the number 144,000. is a literal number.

  it then quotes from a scholar, robert thomas, who wrote an exegetical commentary on revelation.. he says that , in revelation 7, the contrast of a definite number ( 144,000) with an indefinite number ( the "great crowd").

  proves that the 144,000 is a literal number.. .

  this is what the watchtower society claims (i can post quotes if anyone wants them):

  * jehovah does not directly communicate with anyone today.

  * jehovah is using the watchtower society and the faithful and discreet slave class as his only "channel of communication".

  "The Watchtower is Spirit Directed, but not Inspired"

  How can they have it both ways? Isn't it a contradiction in terms as that statement stands? How can anyone be honest with themself and actually believe that? Is this not an example of 1984's "Doublespeak"?

  And, is this direction by God a statistical? The direction of the Organization is generally in the direction God wants it to go? and so the WT uses the illustration of a boat "tacking" from sailing?

  And the WT also "Waits on Jehovah" to set things right. When statements become so obviously wrong to everyone, then they will change them! example: 1914 Generation would not pass away!

  Carl Sagan said that the Watchtower was dishonest intellectually, and it was amazing that people still followed it. He also said there some people are amazingly resistant to reason when it came to religion.

  Instead of collapsing upon foundations of illogic, the WT builds expensive sites like the one in Patterson, New York. Go figure.

  THE GREAT PYRAMID MEASUREMENTS.

  ARE we quite sure of the accuracy of the measurements of the Great Pyramid's passages as given in MILLENNIAL DAWN, Vol. III.? I have seen another measurement of the downward passage (3465 inches instead of 3416 inches), said to be from Prof. Piazzi Smyth's writings, says a reader.

  We have no reason to question the accuracy of the figures given in DAWN III. They were all secured from Prof. Piazzi Smyth's work entitled, Our Inheritance in the Great Pyramid. Moreover the manuscript of that chapter was submitted to Prof. Smyth by a friend before it was published and no flaw in its figures was noted. The illustrations are of Prof. Smyth's preparation, too.

  We remark, however, that Prof. Smyth's interest centered in the upper chambers of the Pyramid, and the passages leading upward to these. Much less care and precision are manifested in his dealings with all other parts of the Pyramid than with this. As an evidence of this note the difference in the two drawings in VOL. III. which show this downward passage and the "pit" at its terminus. In the frontispiece the lower or level portion of the downward passage is shown as running to the axis line of the Pyramid, nearly one-half the length of the "pit." The illustration showing "The Passage System" of the Pyramid (MILLENNIAL DAWN, Vol. III., page 333) shows this totally different--it shows the depressed and broken floor commencing before the vertical axis is reached. Examine the illustrations carefully and note what we refer to.

  The cut of page 333 is to a scale, and, being prepared by the one Astronomer Royal of Scotland, it should be accurate, yet the figures we have given (3416 inches) reach (into the "pit" of this diagram, --to the "pit" in the frontispiece) to the vertical axis of the Pyramid. We cannot therefore see how any longer measure for the passage could be possible. Measure for yourself, using the scale given on the diagram, page 333. If you have not the proper calipers use a piece of stiff paper as your measuring line and then apply it to the scale.

  At the time of the Editor's visit to the Pyramid in 1892 the downward passage was filled full of debris and evidently had been long in that condition, as only one Arab was found who had any knowledge of it. He was quite an old man who many years before had assisted Prof. Smyth. The Editor, therefore, like other measurers of recent years, could ascertain nothing new respecting the "downward passage."

  GREAT PYRAMID PASSAGES

  You may have noted that, in his early editions of Vol. III of ?Studies in the Scriptures," in the Pyramid chapter, Brother Russell states that the length of the Descending Passage, from the junction of the Ascending Passage down to the Subterranean Chamber, is 3416 inches. But in all later editions of his third volume, since 1905, the length of this passage has been altered to the extent of 41 inches, the length now being said to be 3457 inches. Formerly the north wall of the Subterranean Chamber was said to mark the date 1874 A.D., but with the new measure of 3457 inches this date was shifted forward 41 years to 1915 A.D. No explanation is given for this change.
