Confusedandalone is in need of a name change
by confusedandalone inhey everyone, i want to apologize for not rtesponding to a number of messages i recieved over the last month or so.
i took a break as suggested by someone else to try and sort things out and clear my head.
my wife has been reading alot on here and kept me updated on all the fun that has been going on!.

a list of good movies/tv shows to get a JW to think
by nonjwspouse inones that have themes that come uncomfortabllly close to the cult dynamic.. i already got him to watch the obsolete man on twilight zone.
he sauggested watching some old tz again tonight so i wioll pick where is everybody, and escape clause.. i have heard oters say the movie truman show was a good movie as is the matrix ( though i detest violence).
any more suggestions for my personal handy dandy list?.

Skill Up - or Lose Your job !

note: i should edit this down a bit - but feeling mentally lazy.. but the message is simple - if you want to keep your job, find a way to develop your skills and make yourself more useful to your boss.. my xjw friend's son-in-law spent 6 long years doing an engineering degree part time, and was rewarded not long ago when two large mining companies competed for his services.. and, interestingly, i was talking last week to a singaporean businessman, who sells equipment that he buys from both italy and china.

It's so true. I've worked in education for 8 years now and I can tell u first hand just how important it is. Tafe had a lot of ppl coming chiefly to upskill, reskill, or skill in the first place via rpl cuz they never got their trade ticket in the first place. Also when the gfc hit a lot of unskilled peeps in their 30's n 40s came to finish high school cuz the world suddenly changed on them...now we have a job market awash with more candidates than I can ever remember, and everytime I check job ads there seems to be fewer...and employers r more specific than ever before about what they want in a candidate. They can afford to be picky!

by smiddy inno wonder they have a very high turnover of dis-satisfied members , a high number of suicides compared to mainstream religions , a high number of phsychological disorders among members .. totalitarianism is something we normally associate with political regimes , communism , fascism ,etc.etc.. it should also apply to reigions that have "high control "strategys , that keep the members cocooned in their beleif system.. discouraging members from getting information outside their control.
as though information is wrong .
you should be able ,using your god given brain to decide whether information you receive is beneficial or not .

And if anyone is depressed or discouraged, it's obviously their own fault for 'allowing' themselves to be hurt by others or some other deficiencies. The locus is shifted from circumstances and the crazy org to the individual believers. Mea culpa mea culpa!

Sunday's Talk
by biometrics inso my wife has started going to sunday meetings again.
when she returns home i ask her what she learned.. yesterday's talk was about "putting up with brothers and sisters who suffer depression" (in my wife's words).
this confirms my suspicions that there's a high percentage of jws who suffer from depression disorders.

Yep, involvement in the cult didn't give me depression but it sure as hell facilitated it. Now I'm on meds for the rest of my life, whereas had I got out earlier I might not be.

by Terry innot much.. he is directing the watchtower society to print magazines that contain errors.. the goats he separated from the sheep have had to be put back in with the sheep because of policy changes.. stray sheep have been ostracized and turned into lamb stew.. the war to end all wars (wwi) has been followed by wwii, korea, viet nam, and the cold one.
(no need to mention the war on terror.).
there have been earthquakes, famine, disease and a lot of marrying and eating at fine restaurants.. 1925 came and went without any ancient worthies moving in to the residence at beth sarim.. the world got so dangerous in 1975 nobody noticed it.. the generation that saw all the signs and wonders had been dropping dead like flies.
