  Long life spans in the Genesis Account: So where are we with this?

  so (according to the bible) methuselah lived to be 969, noah 950, jared 962 and so on and so on.

  did they simply count years differently back then?

  what accounted for the long life spans in bible times?

  somewhere I read that maybe that was translated wrong should be months. This puts the ages late 70's and early 80's. But, I don't beleive that myself or think the accounts are true.

  it's basically what the topic says, the first two years we had a beautiful relationship.

  religion never came up and we almost had everything in common.

  she did bring up religion (i don't know why if it was so important to her that she decided to wait 2yrs to bring up religion in the first place) after she started to try to preach to me the very next day once she realized that we didn't share the same beliefs.

  New Trend in Dramas?

  so it used to be that all dramas were ot.

  period, that was it.. then they started incorporating a "modern day" application of the ot drama where actors in the present day reflected on the story.. then they started using some highly fictionalized nt characters in dramas (never jesus of course).

  in the past few years we've been getting more "modern dramas", just about people in the present dealing with their "problems".

  In the new order a person would not notice that a woman was more beautiful than another woman. Because that basically means that genetics would still be creating people with not so pretty traits (ugly). Either everyone would be strangely and boringly equally good looking, or perfect minds would not notice and care about the way another person looked.

  Noticing that one person is pretty and another ugly is not a kind, or perfect thing to do. Having people always tell your sibling how beautiful they were and then tell you how nice you can weave that basket, would certainly create situations that were not "perfect".

  Even before waking up I had thought this through and concluded that not all girls would have perfect breasts, some woman are pear shaped, some woman have larger legs and really tops, some noses are long and some noses have humps on the top. Some men are skinny and super tightly packed with very lean muscle while others are heavier and full bodied despite not being overweight. So if paradise were real then physical traits would not matter anymore.

  It's amazing to me that some people think we live on an indestructible rock that is impervious to anything we do. I've never understood it. Everything is so finely balanced and interconnected. How could it make sense that man could do anything to the earth and its atmosphere without causing damage?

  i purchased a condo late last year and due to my personal schedule, i wasn't able to redo it to my preferance until a few months ago.

  all the heavy work is done.

  now just replacing electrical outlets, fixtures and such.

  in just the several months i've been lurking here, i have benefited from many of the posters comments and viewpoints.

  this is truly a special place for the unique community that has been created here.. after years of holding off my exit from the org (that may be another post) i recently became officially out (by letter of da), but it was a very difficult process as many of you know.

  thankfully, i now have my wife (was also a witness) onboard and we support each other.

  Why send Satan down to earth in 1914 - didn't we have enough problems?

  i was just reading an old watchtower quote on another thread, he was quoting it straight from jw.org by the way, and i was astonished to be reminded of this teaching.

  why would a loving god crown his son king and then send satan and hordes of demons to our planet?.

  we live in a huge universe, why send these monsters here?

  It's all stupidness. Its god once again ruining mans chances of ruling themselves. Once again stepping in to hurt man or make the situation impossible. And there are two things to think about here.

  1. WT says man chose to sin and chose Satans way so could not be shielded from the consequences. Hence that being why demons were allowed to come down and meddle in affairs prior to the flood.

  2. WT says that Satan was thrown down here when war broke out in heaven and WWI started and since Satan and crew have been here making more gay people and wars ever since.

  What the heck about Universal Soveriegnty? It has not been answered and can't be answered in this scenario. People could possibly have a wonderful society without all this demonic and god meddling. It blows me away. God kicks the devil out of heaven causing WWI and horrible problems on earth, to be able to say "things are horrible down there now."

  Well here is a thought. Maybe, just maybe if god had dealt with the devil in the first place and then if he felt so insecure that he had to let humans see they need him, he could have let them try living without him. But, noooooo he sets it up for failure and them along the way does major things to hurt us.

  Creates a tempting tree for no reason other than to offer his children a way to disobey. Something that should be technically impossible since god is all good and perfect and could not create anything capable of doing bad.

  Ignores children while talking snakes and devils trick them and ruin his plan.

  Lets demons come down and screw women and beat up everyone.

  Causes flood because he let demons do the above.

  Just after flood, less than 150 years, he thinks man is already so messed up that he creates the Russian and Chinese languages to screw up communication.

  Has the ability to send an angel to kill 185k warriors, and make sun stand still, and let Samson kill thousands while never dying, but lets Israelites go into battles he tells them to have, and lets them die in battles.

  Sends pioneers rent money or groceries on door steps, prevents suicides by sending JW to doors, but lets children be molested and used as sex slaves with no intervention.

  2013 Drama: "Show Yourself Attentive"

  this is the first of three "dramas" this dc, and i have to say, it was one of the weirdest dramas ever.

  i won't go through all the details.

  maybe someone else wants to throw in their 2c.. it starts out with two men standing on the "beach" talking, but it took me awhile to figure out what in the hell was going on.

  Funny. If people have to do the work of cleaning of the earth and restoring it to paradise then there will dangerous construction sites supervised by guardian angels. Holy Spirit always in effect to keep backs from herneating a disc or legs from breaking when something slips out of someone's hands. And in a blink of an eye god could do it all with Holy Spirit. Poof. Paradise perfection. Instead people will do work for hundreds of years and need angelic protection. Something doesn't fit. :)
