it is incomplete but should show some of the new features.. right now the home page shows topics for the entire site which you can sort by when they were started, last updated or the number of posts (rating will come later).

What I've been wanting to say about doubt and faith
by jgnat inhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ordqfh0byw.
it's those who demand certainty who make a mockery of faith.. this talk will stick with you..

So the answer is they don't have to follow Christ if they are good people and lead good lives.

Why do witnesses listen to their GB
by speargrass55 inhello everyone, i want us to discuss the gbs right to control jws.
the gb claim, and rf jws believe that they can't understand the bible without help from the gb.
when you ask them why they listen to the gb you hear stuff like .

They are for all practical purposes inspired by god. Although you'd find quotes saying they are not, the truth is they also say they are in different words. So don't accept them and lose gods favor and be one with the devil... It's a great setup.

Why does god kill children?
by Comatose ini was thinking about all the accounts in the bible that indicate god kills children as a punishment or teaching experience.
1. kills all of egypts firstborn sons, who were innocent kids who did nothing to him or his people, who had no control over the decisions pharoah made.
how many times have you read that account or thought about it without realizing the devastating pain dealt to all those parents, and remembered those were innocent kids?.

How do you think you know Jesus outside of the bible? This has turned larsesque.

Tec,
I am sure you realize that the reasons why you say those three mentioned in your post were wrong is the same argument I'd make in saying that Moses and the nation of Israel were wrong. The clear contradiction of the OT and Jesus as relayed in the bible is why I now feel that if there is a god, he doesn't have a true religion and doesn't care what you believe as long as you are a good person.
The problem is that the only book you accept as being a true reference to teach us about god, contains such amazing contradictions on what god is like.
Of course being able to pick and choose which books and verses you believe certainly helps.

Michelle,
They are not so far off from today's standards as you think. Much of the world still lives and believes in that same way, thinking nation building for god is justification for savage actions. The same viewpoint you accept as unoffending and comfortable is being used by some in the Middle East currently. It shows how self centered and myopic humans can be, when they feel their beliefs and ideals are justification for savage butchery, but others are not. God is love and hate... Not very clearly defined I guess.
The virgins hadn't defiled themselves with pagan worship so were kept as wives, but the little boys were killed, and I'll just trust Moses and god. The resurrection makes it all okay. Did you ever consider that NONE of those people had been preached to. No conversion attempt made. No chance to learn about god. They were according to the bible just slaughtered. That doesn't fit with a loving god who wants everyone to have a chance to repent and know him. Why were virgin girls spared, but infants and toddler boys slaughtered? What kind of human can slice up a baby? What kind of god would ask?
I think we both know what happened there.
Genocide happened. Taking care of little orphaned boys wasn't on the agenda. But, a young virgin girl ready to be used sexually? Well that's a different story. Don't worry everyone. God says we can have the girls. How loving of him to spare them. Now they can be raped by their captors who slaughtered their parents and little brothers in front of them.
