  If man evolved?

  i know anyone who believes in evolution is going to say that there is no 'if' about it.

  however.... if man evolved over hundreds of thousands of years ago, why were there only about 200-300 million people alive 2,000 years ago?

  surely there'd have been many billions by then?.

  It's so weird that Lost just popped in and replied something a month old. lol

  Lost you were being very argumentative about the fact that people live longer lives now and have it much easier if they want to have lots of healthy children who survive their first few years. I pointed that out. Not sure why you are dredging up this silly argument?

  i spent the first 17 years of my life in a jw home, then the real world caught up to me.

  i was talking with a jw i've known a long time and the topic of da new order came up.

  she mentioned how nice it will be when all animals are at peace.

  i asked why they had camouflage and defensive and offensive weapons if they were to always get along?

  adamah, great read. I reason pretty much identically the same as you. If the WT hadn't turned me into an alcoholic and forced me to quit drinking, I'd wish we get beers sometime. :-)

  from radio biola to a sister who said you can treat autism and ptsd with scented oils, jws have had some weird some weird ideas about medicine.

  I used depression as a reason for missing some meetings. The two elders who came by to check on me then offered all types of advice for depression. One said don't take any medicine from doctors. I knew a brother once who took medicine and then committed suicide. The medicine will make you worse or kill you.

  God's Word for Us Through Jeremiah - Review

  a recent thread about this week's study of the watch tower society's god's word for us through jeremiah led me to decide to review how much of the bible book of jeremiah is actually considered in that publication.. unlike other watch tower society verse-by-verse considerations of some bible books, their jeremiah book instead purports to impart lessons 'for us'.

  key scriptures in jeremiah contradict jw doctrine, so a verse-by-verse approach was out of the question, probably having learned from their daniel and isaiah efforts that expose problems with jw interpretations.. one good feature of the watchtower library on cd-rom is you can search for a scripture, then find all the search occurences for where that scripture has been cited in jw publications, which made the process much easier.. in god's word for us through jeremiah, much of the bible book of jeremiah is ignored altogether.

  in fact, less than half of the bible book is mentioned at all, and only 16% of jeremiah is actually quoted (including portions with the instruction to "read" the cited verses.

  Aliens: Vatican Prepared (Not WTS)

  if you google 'vatican and aliens', you will find a number of references to vatican officials making positive remarks about extraterrestrials - including a few who outrightly assert that they exist.

  in addition, the vatican is interested in observatory time used for locating earth-like planets.. in summary, it looks like they wish to be prepared, come what may.

  If aliens existed then god would be god for them too. So no conversion would be necessary. If they did exist and made contact then it would destroy all religion.

  i'm not sure what the pope represents to the catholics, if they consider him god, gods channel,vicor or what.

  so those of you who know, could it not be said that the jw's have the same in their leaders?

  is the 8 men of the gb now the 8 popes of the jw's or as a collective body 1 pope of the jw's or is there a difference between what the pope is to catholics and what these 8 men think they now are?.

  I have asked a few JW's about the "flaming sword" in Eden. They were non-plussed and vague. Some said well it wasn't a sword thats just all that Moses could understand. To which I asked, well then what other parts are not literal? They went into shock and zoned out like in a trance and ignored the question and me...

  The new book has a chapter on Abel and Cain. It makes reference to them growing up and seeing the angels guarding the way to the old paradise home. Excuse me?!? That's not in the bible and if it is true then how the hell did the earth get so bad so quick? There is a flaming sword and real angels over there but I don't believe in god and am going to live like there is no tomorrow???
