Welcome Ben! I was recently DFd when I couldn't keep up meetings and service and pretending for my fade. I miss my family who are JW and shun me know. I know you want to help them, but they won't listen to you despite the logic used until they are personally ready to research issues on their own. I would keep quiet and enjoy not being shunned. My Story: from JW Elder to Born Again Christian to Agnostic
by passwordprotected ini first posted here on 3rd june 2008. at the time i was an elder, appointed the previous october, i was 36 and i was a born-in.
at the time i'd become disillusioned with the society due to the governing body's letter explaining why the book study in private homes was being abolished.
april 2008 saw me start questioning this decision, privately of course, and this eventually led me to this site, to jwfacts and to many youtube videos, all of which began to errode my faith in the leaders of the organisation.. in july 2008, having discussed my doubts with my wife, i attended the district convention, deciding to give the society one last chance to convince me it was the truth.

Congrats on being so young and figuring it all out. I was in deep till 2 yrs ago I guess. I'm 38 now with no college. Luckily I have a great job. But, seriously man. Half my life is gone. You have your whole life. I know it feels like you are wasting tons of time. But, stay cool and get that college education with the parents help. You have your whole long life ahead of you. You are going to make us all proud my friend.

i work repatative in the morning so get 3-4 hours of courses,.
one done today on the philosephy of death made a point.. if you lived 300 years you might might still remember childhood.. 500 year childhood might be gone and by then you are not the same person you were at 50. in fat you might not even rmembe you were that person!.

I got asked THE QUESTION !!
by Tech49 ina little experience that happened very recently:.
another brother, an elder, and i were talking, i was explaining to him and giving him several examples of how a couple of the elders in our congregation were blatantly trying to run their own show, parading themselves around as "representatives" of the body, when the other brothers didnt know what the hell they were talking about.
they are using their "elder powers" to bully and push people around, causing a bit of angst and hurt feelings.

Hi Tech! Thank you for sharing. For new faders or those who have awoken and are missing activities. It WILL come up. Because the activity and "service" is tied to your moral character and worth as a human. They will have been thinking it for a few weeks when they finally talk to you. Just smile and cajole and say what you have to in order for them to go away. Then stay away longer next time! If you ever go 3 weeks without hearing a word from anyone, just QUIT!
Anyways, good night all. Eeeeesh.... I get up in 4 hours.... Need sleeping pills.

can i just say this site is absolutely brilliant.
finally found people with open minds and free thought that doesn't just consist of "well the wt told me this so it must be right".. my story is that i'm just like any other child of a jw...brought up into a life of indoctrination where "the world's" thinking is automatically wrong.. that is until i was 14 - a light turned on in my head.

by DocHouse in1- pray to god (whomever you may imagine him to be) asking for understanding.
2- study the background about the bible (from non-religious sources) to see where it came from.
3- discard (or at least set aside) chuyrch claims and dogma.. 4- read it, looking up archaeological/historical sources about the places and peoples referred to.

Rain before Noah's flood
by monkeyshine indoes anyone know the current thought on what happened before the flood?
i remember being taught that it never rained before the flood but now they are telling me that was never taught.
i thought i remembered a quote somewhere saying something to the effect of "can you imagine how the outsiders must have felt feeling those first drops of rain?

Why did Noah have to send out birds to their deaths wondering if the water was gone? No windows?
Better question... If god was all talky talky before the flood and had conversations with Noah, why didn't Noah just ask god if the water was gone? God missing in action?
