how many times have you read that account or thought about it without realizing the devastating pain dealt to all those parents, and remembered those were innocent kids?.

Most humorous of all is how this turns into voices I hear in my head are Jesus and god. And how the original questions and points start getting dodged.

There were several clear examples cited where children were killed and it is cruel. We have only had one person successfully address the main topic from a stand point that agrees with the killings. However, the point was missed that genocide is never okay, and in some cases discussed it wasn't genocide. It was just first borns or all but the virgins.

Tec contends those accounts are either not true or that it wasn't god who told them to do that. That they as bad people made the choice. But, were they not gods chosen people? Did not Jesus bloodlines come about through those chosen people? How can you use the OT to validate Jesus lineage or the covenant with Abraham, or the original sin, when you just dismiss portions of it at will?

Myelaine you ignored my very relevant question. Why did god demand the death of infants but allow 32k virgins to be kept for the pleasure of the fighting men AND priests?

What piece of WT literature is worth holding onto, or have you kept? Why?

i have basically thrown away all of my bound volumes and loose wt and awake magazines.

i kept some bpoks, the insight to the scriptures, god's love, the reasoning book, and daniel's prophecies (this was my favorite) .

i held onto insight to the scriptures after reading some of ray franz's book, crisis of conscience.

The firstborn of the Egyptians cannot be justified with your reasoning either myelaine. That was just a horrible punishment. Thousands of innocent children dead because god was fighting with Pharoah.

I guess a 2 year old innocent boy has an evil heart, but the firm young pretty virgin just blossoming into womanhood doesn't. Makes sense. That's not perverted at all. Kill all your family even infant siblings then be made your killers young concubine plaything.

Remember those accounts of the people in prison who risk their lives to sneak in a single page of the bible to all crowd around and read together. What if it was one of the Israelite genocide stories... That throws a damper on the warm and Jesus fuzzies.

You can't pick and choose which scriptures to regard as inspired. Convenient, but it doesn't work that way.

Since still in family conspires with other friends before making a move, when it rains it pours. Been a real crappy day. Wife is depressed, I'm frustrated. Oh well, it's part of it I know. Seems everyone reads into things more than there is and then makes judgments and jumps to conclusions.

The hard part for me is I can't respond like I should. I feel like I'm representing. I don't want to give anyone the means to say I'm an angry apostate. So we just bend over and take it. I can deal for a while, but not indefinitely. Trying to help the wife keep her chin up. Just venting.
