I don't tell people why. I think it's better that way. First off we've learned no one will ever listen to you about TTATT. So telling them just hurts them and could make us seem like evil apostates. We have family we don't want to lose. I don't think I owe them a reason and I don't give it.

Fading ... Do You Owe Witness Friends An Explanation?
by What Now? ini'm curious about what you all think on this subject.
when my husband and i became irregular about a year ago, and then inactive around 5 months ago, i felt that it would be hypocritical to take advantage of the social side of the witness community if we weren`t going to meetings or in service.
we stopped entertaining (which we did quite regularly - theme parties, card parties, movie nights, big turkey dinners, breakfasts on holidays etc), and i slowly stopped accepting invitations for get togethers, playdates etc.

Proof the bible was NOT inspired by god.
by Comatose inone of the first things i did when i was trying to face my doubts about the bibles inspiration was to read it.
as jws we are always told to read daily, but you can't get much sense of context or continuity when you read a chapter or two a day.
so, i knew if i was going to give up on the religion and/or the bible it would only be after i had actually read and researched.

Ding his dying words are totally different. Read the accounts. In Luke he says that and dies. Right then. Dead. In Mark he says the other and dies right then. Dead.

The writers were not there. When he died he died alone. So we need to know by holy spirit what happened. His statement that showed him in utter peace and calm during death in Luke is in stark contrast with the anguish and sadness in Mark. They are polar opposites. They don't fit with both being said. The same is also true for the baptism in a smaller way. But his death last words prove they were not both said. Read all the accounts and see what I mean. Luke shows him calm and peaceful, a lamb willingly and happily sacrificing himself. In Luke Jesus is at peace and a great example for christians of how to die in peace as a martyr. Mark shows him abandoned, alone, forlorn, and despised. Mark shows his last words and thoughts were sad and tortured. They can't have both happened if you read the accounts.

One of the first things I did when I was trying to face my doubts about the bibles inspiration was to read it. As JWs we are always told to read daily, but you can't get much sense of context or continuity when you read a chapter or two a day. So, I knew if I was going to give up on the religion and/or the bible it would only be after I had actually read and researched. The NT was read by me in just a couple weeks. I really poured myself into doing it. There are many inconsistencies in it, but for me the proof that it was not inspired came in what would be the most important verses in the entire bible.
God literally speaking has to be the most important verses in the bible. God speaking about his son's baptism and heard by others? Again, even more important!
So, were the bible writers present at Jesus baptism? It does not appear to me they were. (But, it doesn't impact this point either way.) With the writers of the book not being there, then Holy Spirit would have to inspire them to record what god said at that most special baptism.
Each bible account is different...
God if he were literally guiding what was being written would have ensured something as monumental as him speaking at his sons baptism was correct. But, he didn't. It's recorded completely different. In one account he speaks personally to his son. He commends and praises him in an endearing way. In another he speaks to the crowds as if to tell them the truth, or convince them. When you consider the fact that the single most important verses in the bible are different, then how could the hand of god have been guiding and inspiring the bible?
Then I read the accounts of Jesus death. Jesus the ransom sacrifice's last words! Completely different. Different words, different emotions, different in every way.
I'll never forget how I felt when I realized this.

Private meetings banned??
by franticfran ini have just spoken to a brother who is part of a group of single brothers and sisters who meet together once a week to discuss bible topics and he has been told by and elder that the organisation "banned" these private meetings years ago.
i told him i remember that article but he is adamant that the society would never do that (!
) now i am fairly sure i remember that article whether it was in a km or one of the mags i cant recall but i am sure i remember them saying we needed nothing more than the food that the slave class provided (another means to control us),does anyone have the details of that article because i have said i will find it and let him have it.

This is a bunch of tripe. I would suggest that you change the meeting to a study/discussion using the publications as a way to prepare for field service. Then suggest everyone discuss the topic of the cross. Look it all up in the Imperial bible dictionary.

Hi all
by Saltheart Foamfollower infirstly, love and greetings to all - i've been lurking here and elsewhere for a long time and have benefitted more than i can say.
i'm still in - i have a genuine fear that coming out would kill my mother - but i've recently taken the first step away.
i told a non-jw friend that i knew it was all a load of nonsense and i didn't believe any of it.

Welcome friend. It's nice to meet you. I wish you the best. I hope you keep posting on here. It's always nice to talk to new joiners. So what in particular tipped you over the edge? Was it something you can pinpoint? For me it was many things, but accidentally finding that people quoted in brochures and books were not really saying what they implied they were was a blow. Then research started and bam, it all went poof.

Now that they the changed the doctrine to say the sealing of the anointed hasn't happened, they made it so that it doesn't matter how many new ones pop up.

Why do the GB need a new Bethel compound if the end is so close? Here is the "official" answer
by sir82 inas most of us know, the society is spending 10's of millions of dollars on a giant, state of the art, secluded bunker country club headquarters in very remote, isolated warwick ny.. the question that "some" have is, why?
if armageddon is coming "very soon", why go to all that time & effort & expense?
why have thousands of jws dedicating their time to this massive effort instead of the "lifesaving ministry"?.

If you are a dub you believe in a god that can accomplish anything with magic. He can destroy every human being on earth but some JWs during big A. A god that sends fire and brimstone with directed tornados while protecting his people could very easily make the roads stay clear, or clear them in a blink if an eye. He could without any effort protect warehouses of equipment and supplies and tell his people where they are. When you are omnipotent and magical NOTHING matters. There is nothing that his HS or magic couldn't fix or do. So there likewise, there is no REAL reason related to any impending doom to move. For a true believer you could stand in the middle of a street and god would make the buildings fall around you and not on you.
The move shows not that the GB is worried about Armageddon, but rather that they are worried of other things. Impending doom makes no logical sense to a dub. God can do anything. The move proves something else is going on and that GB doesn't have their money where their mouth is. End is not close in their minds either. At least not in the next 3 yrs.
