I until a few months ago saw dead people walking everywhere I went. If I saw a family laughing and smiling I thought how sad. They are going to be dead in a few months and dont even know it.

Doesn't the ARMAGEDDON teaching foster a MORBID view of the future?
by Black Man ineven when i was dyed-in-the-wool j-dub, i felt the armageddon teaching was one of the most morbid concepts to be hammered into the psyches of jws.
think about it, only jws would survive this catastrophe, which translates to roughly .001 percent of the population would survive while everyone else would die a horrible death.
that includes people who do good things and are good people, but are just not jws.

It would be worth a try I'd think except for if the names who sign are searchable... Many would have a hard time signing if it meant that family would label them the anti-Christ.

Great post. The way the publications misquote their sources is one of the most significant things that woke me up.
if you are new to this board or a current JW reading this, please get your reasoning book out and look up Cross. Then take the time to go to the library, book store, or amazon.com and check the references that are made. It's a great example of dishonestly quoting sources.

Gum Chewing....Allowed in your hall or not?
by LostGeneration inso when i attended, this was never an issue - its been five years since i was booted.
a bit before i woke up, a couple visiting us (middle america) from the deep south basically told me this never, ever was allowed in their hall.
no 'priveleges' for a guy who chewed gum.

I always chewed gum if I wanted to. On stage I had it in my mouth to combat nervous dry mouth although I didn't make a show of chewing it. I regularly gave public talks with gum in my mouth, I just kept it in my cheek.

Death sentence to a Woman carried out in Texas!
by abiather inthe charge against her is that she lured a mentally disabled man under the pretext of marrying him, but tortured and killed him by kicking and beating him with belts.. when she was put to death wednesday, suzanne basso became the 14th woman to receive the death penalty since its reinstatement 38 years ago (it was the 510th execution in texas).
people accept this as deserving, because they know what has happened.. this makes it easy to accept principle of cause and effect (galatians 6:7) that says there is a cause for everything (whether perceptible or not).
it is simply impossible to know all the details of all the causes preceding an effect as people have several births.

Creationism or evolution, or do I believe in god
by moley inin the past year or so i've been completely evaluating whether i believe in god.
i studied marine biology at uni for the last 3 years and it completely change my view on evolution.
even when i was in i believed in evolution to a certain extent (ie the flood made no sense, the earth being 60000 odd years old etc etc) and this has made me question the existence of god.

Tech49 has the CO over for lunch
by Tech49 inso awhile back, during our last circuit overseer visit, vic and i decided to bite the bullet.... there seemed to be very little support for the mid-week lunch plans for the co and his wife, so we signed up to host.
we definitely didnt want it to be awkward, so we invited a few others along, as a nice little group affair.
they were excited, and offered to do the cooking, so i said i would play along.. just some background.... this particular co is kind of a tool (big surprise right?

Thats pretty funny. Not too surprising I guess. It's a shame too. There are some nice ones and some like him. Not shaking your hand and not actually talking with you and not showing the kids any attention are signs of a real ego maniac who is in it for the power.
