  lol... When I tried to quit my responsibilities last year I was told that it had to be approved by the branch. I said, okay whatever but I'm done just so you know.

  I can see it now, where a brother wants to step down and has to get a phone call from the CO badgering him for an hour and has to CONVINCE the CO he really can't handle it before the CO agrees to remove him. Makes it harder for faders who do not want to ruffle feathers.

  Any of you thinking about stepping down better do it pronto before the new arrangement starts. Right now you just have to tell your friends on the body an excuse, soon its going to be hell.

  first post here: longtime lurker but hesitant to take the leap.

  my story is pretty much like everyone elses with little variance, but i thought id add a few details that especially tormented me when i was in.

  im sure these are familiar, im afraid this is a bit of a rant.. --paradise: the constant chatter about a perfect world when most in the hall were not even slightly interested in taking care of the earth now.

  Welcome! Glad to have you. It's cool you posted. I remember everything you talked about! So funny. Keep posting! You will fit right in here. :)

  How about people who came to meeting sick and made everyone else sick. HATED that. dumb butts. We had a call in line, but they couldn't miss one freaking meeting to avoid spreading their illness. Their own personal selfish desire to be in the group of the cult over rode common decency.

  But, what is wrong with referencing real people that do deny the holocaust? :)

  If that one line in the book colored your entire opinion of him, I'd suggest maybe overlooking it and giving his arguments and facts another try.

  Not sure what we are arguing about here... I do not think that it is radical atheism to point out the truth or call attention to damaging beliefs. I'll point out the often sited thought - Radical atheists type on a keyboard, read books, post on social media, and strive for change. Radical religious types kill those who disagree.

  When looked at unbiased, I don't see how you can call Dawkins radical. Muslim Jihadists are radical. Christian Crusaders were radical. People who blow up abortion clinics and shoot doctors are radical.

  apparently there's an israeli company out there that has managed to produce universally accepted artificial blood with the help of stem cells.

  For some reason, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they came out against it. I think they will. I can see the explanation now, something about it being blood that is sacred, no matter where the blood come from, it is still sacred, and stem cells are very bad too.

  Personally I like the vdeo. But, on the fundie stuff, I don't think that can apply to someone who is non religious. I don't get it. I think thats why the questions happened Kate. It doesn't make much sense. As I read the thread I kept hoping you were going to explain why you used the word fundie. Saying he is a radical atheist is not the same as being a fundie. Not sure why you used the term radical... Is it just because he says things like they are instead of trying not to hurt feelings? I think its okay for a scientist to be bold and clear with facts.

  first of all there is no devil and there are no demons to cast out.

  it is impossible for god (whose basic qualities are love, goodness ... etc) to allow demonic forces to exist as to confuse, mislead and subvert his childrenwhereever they are, especially in view of the fact that there exist determinism in the physical world and free-will in the mental world.. anyone who is deep into the psychology and psychiatry knows the truth behind the so-called demon-possessions.

  if you think about it, for a die hard christian the day jesus was supposed to be resurrected and back in heaven, thereby fulfilling his earthly mission, is a very big day.

  all the jws i know never even thought about it.

  in fact if i had mentioned it, i bet they would have looked me at strangely.

  I don't think a feast would be implied. But, an acknowledgement that it was a special day would seem obvious. Stop obfuscating and just admit that it might be remembered more than it is.

  i regularly watch family feud.. homeland is a great show i watch every week, when it's in season.. metv has so many great programs---from taxi to the twilight zone.. what do you like watching?

  Tiktaalik and Nancy Drew - we should watch tv together.

  The Wire, Sopranos, Dexter, Hannibal, Elementary, Vikings, Suits, Mad Men (just saw episode 1), Mentalist, Downton Abbey, Bates Motel, Helix, Homeland, Blacklist, I bet there ar emore I forgot to mention.

  I finished Dexter 2 weeks ago. Still miss it. Wish I had it to watch. It was a couple months of great TV every night.

  Well if its okay to have it on your mind every day and not notice the actual day, why commemorate the memorial and print flyers and invite everyone in the territory? Why not just have a private service and pass the wine and crackers that no one eats?

  Emeth, no one I know ever noticed his resurrection day.
