If JW's were right and the foaming mouth frenzy they are in culminated in Armageddon in the near future...
I'd be HAPPY I am living my life my way on my time with my choices. I'd give the sky a big middle finger as I fell in a earthquake hole.
anyone else get the distinct impression that jws are being worked up into a frenzy with all the changes and activity nowadays?
by the end of august, there will have been four campaigns inside of a year.
one last november, a memorial campaign, a convention campaign and an advertise jw.org campaign.. then there's the conventions with all the hooplah around that with all the video, and the aggrandizement of synchronized gb talks.

i've always wondered that.
recently i asked that question on another thread and didn't really get ananswer.
cofty made an excellent point that we often hear what it isn't, but that really isn't useful.. so, what is it?
Jon, hows it going? :) I am on the same page as you, but still in playing devil's advocate will argue with your statements.
God if he can exist outside the universe and time and is Omnipotent can do anything. Anything. To make a voice we would hear is hardly a feat at all compared to other miracles recorded in the bible and in comparison to creation of other spirit and human life it is even more trivial. If god can create matter and substance from nothing, then he could make humans hear a voice, even if it was only perceived to be happening in their heads without creating actual sound waves.
Again, my only point is, if you believe in a god who has always existed and created the universe, laws of physics, and everything in the universe... You don't have a problem with not being able to name an element or substance that spirit is made from. God can do anything.
ok so this weeks book study says that jehovah does not protect individuals in a miraculous way..... but the yearbook gets filled with so called experiences of "faithful" ones blabbering on about "how god saved me etc".
these ones are held up as examples of faith etc....... how do they justify the double standards?
.
lol... "god did it".... SO, if you get "helped by god" then its a blessing or he wanted to help you. If you get no help then god didn't like you as much or didn't want to bless you. How sad... The poor sister got raped, but at least the chickens multiplied fast in Angola.
it's been a while since i've posted anything about myself.
i've been on jwn for a couple of years.
my leaving the organization was not because i lost my faith, but i left because of my faith.
Awesome, great story. Wish I knew you and we could get coffee to talk more. Congrats on a happy life.
i've always wondered that.

yup. I like to point out though that isn't just impossible to prove, but also illogical.
i've always wondered that.

It's what god is made of. It's just beyond any human comprehension. It might as well be nothing, but of course we know god is there...
i've always wondered that.

*spoiler alert - in case you didn't remember or do not understand what I'm doing, I'm an atheist. I enjoy playing devils advocate because by trying to answer these types of questions you in reality show the truth of the matter. There is no scientific or logical answer.
Back on point with the believer hat on again.
Viv and Jon - you can't know what spirit is made of, because it isn't made of anything we could understand or comprehend as humans. All we know and everything in the universe is made of actual matter or elements or chemicals or gases etc. God is spirit and existed before he made those things I just mentioned. So god can't be Oxygen or CO2. He MADE those. God can't be a spark or electricity, because those only exist AFTER god made the things that cause them. So god can't be made of anything that he would have had to create. He is just there. Made of whatever he is and it's nothing we could know or understand. BECAUSE it can't be anything he created, which is all we know and see. Spirit is the same I guess. God is a spirit. So angels would be spirits. If humans had a spirit then its the same stuff.
*back to normal me..
The truth is, there is no rational or scientific answer. There can't be. You must believe in a god who was always there to understand that a spirit is not made of any knowable or measurable substance.
i've always wondered that.

But, god isn't made of Oxygen. Think of spirit pertaining to the spirit world.
i've always wondered that.

But thats not spirit... It is oxygen or carbon dioxide... Right?
i've always wondered that.

If you are a believer then what I said is THE answer. Spirit is not made of or comprised of anything. It is like god. It exists and just is.
