Many of us lurked for ages until the time was right to jump in and post. And I imagine there are many lurkers who never post! No matter, you're still a part of a supportive, loving, and mostly non-judgmental community here (we are still working on our true new personalities!).

@Steve2, I only deduced a lack of compassion from the noticeable lack of comments such as "I'm so glad she's alright!"
The posting and the comments are the usual jw-speak of "look how terrible the world is getting" and "can't wait for it to end". The focus is all doom-and-gloom negativity.
Has nothing to do with someone checking the Like box, it's the tone of the messages. That's all.
i've just found out this in the charity registry of new zealand.. the watch tower society of nz closed down, not just bethel (that was sold some time ago), but the legal entity.
they have another entity in nz, but this one was the owner of bethel.

I think the point is that there is no compassion show whatsoever! jws just use any tragedy to say "sign of the times" and "come on, armageddon, let's get rid of everyone but us".

The church's founder Felix Manalo was born to a catholic family but studied with Seventh Day Adventists and became a pastor. His second wife was a deaconess in the SDA. They became disillusioned with the Sabbath obsservance and started their own church which is known by its initials INC. Interestingly, it was registered with the government in 1914. (That SDA background explains the parallel teachings as that's where Russell found them.) However, Manalo's family still runs the show...his grandson is Executive Minister. The national historical society erected a statue of him at his birthplace and the president of the Philippines designated July 27 (the date in 1914 on which the religion was registered) as national INC day so all its followers can observe the "solemn day".
i've been visiting here for about a year or so, but didn't really feel compelled to participate other than reading the various posts that interested me.. there's been that uncomfortable feeling of being disloyal to god, the organization, many friends and relatives.. i've been associated since birth.
after 65 + years of service within this organization and actually enjoying that time, it troubled me to find myself wanting to express feelings that were contrary to all that time of "faithfulness".
those years were filled with progressive "privileges and responsibilities" even at a high level, and there was considerable success in our evangelizing activity.
Stirred, thank you for this wonderful post. Many of us have experienced that feeling of "something isn't quite right" and the resultant "waiting on jehovah" for clarification that never materialized.
The fact that you and your wife were so deeply embedded in the activities of the organization and yet found your way out is truly heart-warming and encouraging. I look forward to reading your suggestions as to how we can assist our own loved ones in waking up and realizing that "something isn't quite right".

so now we have to count all tracts / leaflets / meeting invitations etc as placements on the monthly report slip???.
is this just another method of control or accountability!
