That was a weird comment about trying to convert him to JWs...
from barbara anderson, former watchtower headquarters researcher and writer, on another recent thread:.
it is expected that at the 2014 annual meeting, usually held the first saturday in october, will serve watchtower leaders well to cover-up all the 100-years of prophetic nonsense.
rumor has it they are going to celebrate their 100-years of announcing the kingdom in an adroit way by featuring a move of "great" significance to do with the expansion of the governing body to an "apostolic" 12 or some other fantasy idea.. .
Darth...you had me at clergy hoedown!
i finally registered on here after reading on the forum for almost two years on and off (more often the last year).
to give you some background on who i am i can say that i'm a girl in my late teens and live in western europe.
my mom is a jw and my dad is not.
Welcome! Very happy that you are strong enough to think for yourself and that you have the courage to stop living a double-life.
Can you get any support from your siblings?
i remember one picture of a pretty little girl holding a plastic bucket in paradise next to a tame lion.. i asked my wife if there is going to be polution in paradise?
of course the answer is no!!!!!..
i asked her where did the plastic bucket come from?
And don't forget that he will magically destroy all the nuclear materials, too!
there are a lot of topics about religiouse hatred, so on a personal level why do you find it difficult to love or like individuals?.
.
.
I think there's a huge difference between "hating" a person and disliking their actions. Love comes in at the level of trying to understand what motivates a person to act disagreeably. You don't need to be friends with those you dislike but you also don't need to label them and push them away. Allow them to be, and get on with your life without needing to react to their actions.
A little kindness goes a very long way.
making up my mind on how to teach my son values in life seems to be an on going struggle of what is right and wrong.
being raised in a sheltered jw life until after leaving high school seems like going from one extreme to another of being over restrictive or under.
trying to find that balance.
Ashe, don't feel bad about your question. As jdubs we were taught to follow The Rules and told that Everyone in The World was morally depraved, so it's a transition to step out of the jdub box and make your own decisions.
Obviously you have great moral sense as you saved your children from a life of lies by leaving!
Teach your children to be kind, to have empathy, and to think for themselves. Everything will work out just fine with you leading by example.
Hugs!!!
the new young blood gb member, you think he really thinks this is the truth or is he protecting his financial interest like all the older gb members who enjoy basking in glory of men?
do you think they believe in the "over-lapping generation" or was that a mistake done by barr?.
how much of the watchtower and the bible do the governing body know, ray franz jr. said he was not impressed with their bible knowledge and their lack of knowledge of the watchtower cannon.
There is no way they believe their own bs, otherwise they wouldn't need to have the disfellowshipping whip ever at the ready. They teach fear, not love, so of course they don't believe in the nonsense they shovel.
hi folks:.
i've been lurking here all summer and i finally decided to take the plunge and join you all.. i'm a single, 53 y/o black woman living in the nyc metro area (usa).
i was brought up around jws:mom's mom, mom and my favorite auntie were all in.
Welcome and congratulations on your new life!
1 - still think it's the truth ...came to this site cause danger is your middle name.. 2 - concerned, smoething's amiss but still believe.
3 - 98% sure it's bs, but still go for / with family.
4 - anger / denial, inactive with minimal attendance (ie memorial, spec talk etc).
I'm with Alphaman, Simon, and Phizzy. Would love to see it gone, to release all those still captive, and want the gb et al persecuted to the nth degree.
all throughout my life tuesdays were my meeting nights.
well tuesdays and thursdays to be more precise, when we had book study but book study was at my house so it wasn't terrible.
anyways as a kid i hated coming home from school, doing homework and then going to the meetings.
I don't even think about it any more, just happy to make my own choices about how to spend my off-work time.
