What really woke me up: I started noticing most JWS are weirdos..
by kneehighmiah inthankfully my parents are converts so they aren't wierd.
seemed pretty popular by all accounts.
they are "popular" jws even now.

Yet, I still am drawn to the notion that, selectively, weirdess has a lot to commend it - espeically if it is coupled with damn good looks and the promise of an intense, although fleeting thrill. But enough self-disclosure.
Steve2, stop making me wish that I was gay...and male...

Jehovah's organization growing like never before: but bible studies are way down. Huh?
by kneehighmiah inso the governing body likes to keep claiming incredible growth.
at the same time they claim bible studies are way down.
are the finally admitting what we've known all along, that they can no longer recruit outsiders?

So as Dwain pointed out, "Bible Studies" don't mean growth and don't mean that JWs are the true religion. It's just a numbers game.

Lowering the standards: The sign of a cult struggling for survival
by Hidden-Window inmany of the recent changes in the jehovah's witness organization are a clear sign of a cult that is struggling for survival.
the internet has change the scenario in a very dramatic way.
many of us who for years struggled alone with doubts and cognitive dissonance thinking that we were the only ones, that we, as individuals were the issue, now know that there is a large community of individuals who see the organization as what it is, a mind controlling cult that is not only false, but also dangerous.. the governing body clearly understands the consequences of this awakening.

@OMWO, great song! I totally agree, I'd rather see them flee sooner than later even with all the cash.
@Steve2: "Fluff has seldom got such an earnest work-over." Dead on.
@im stuck in - controlling the masses through religion, schooling, and fear is a truth, not a conspiracy theory. Keep your chin up!

IslandMan, great idea. There are so many similarities (odd if you really believe "god" has only ONE org, no?) so it would be pretty easy to open their eyes to TTALDS. love that!

I think Morris is just jealous. He would look absolutely hideous in tight pants so he doesn't want anyone else to look good.

Inside, bible studies don't mean doo-doo.
Most of them aren't actually studying the bible with jws, they are just too nice to slam the door. Some just want to socialize. When we lived in the bible belt, people would repeatedly allow us to visit NOT because they agreed with what we taught (they didn't) but because they viewed the bible as holy.
It's all just a numbers game.

just wanted to introduce myself
by TheMark ini've been a lurker for quite some time and enjoy the forum.
i've reached a point in life where i don't argue ideologies anymore so i don't have much to say.
i've been out for decades and believe i've been mostly de-cultabilized (if that's even a word).. my family is still in and i haven't had contact with them in years.
