New Watchtower-- the End is coming in our lifetime again now??
by FusionTheism inthey just posted the simplified august study watchtower on jw.org.. paragraph 11 of the "expectation!
" article says this:.
"so even if we feel that we have been waiting a long time, this does not mean that the end is far away or that it is not coming in our lifetime.".

I could have sworn we were at or on "the threshold"...so someone must have closed the door again. -

How do you feel when you see the Witnesses in the door to door work? Angry, Sad, or dumbfounded?
by John Aquila inim here sitting and listening to youtube video songs and practicing on my guitar and checking out posts on jwn.
and one more thing, im seeing the spanish jws going door to door in my street.
they work my street every single week.

Bungi Bill put it well.
The last time I saw them on my street there were two teenaged girls in dowdy long skirts being followed by an older man (that was creepy, really). I was in the kitchen and heard a barely audible tap on the front door, but by the time I'd gotten there the girls were far down the street I don't remember what they left in the door, but I do remember my impression that they certainly did not want to actually engage anyone at the door as they barely made any noise.
I was like that for quite a time at before I faded. Really did not want to talk to anyone as I thought what we had to say was embarrassing.

Damned if they do, Damned if they don't
by FusionTheism ini see an attitude among some people here which is not very helpful.
i can understand it, but still, it's not constructive or helpful.. if you condemn the society for not changing, but then you also condemn them when they do change in a positive way, what incentive or motive does that provide for the people at the society to ever want to change for the better?.
also, what does that attitude look like to current witnesses who are having doubts?.

Fusion...only the sheeple/jws are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Think you mixed up your subjects here... -

Spiritual AMNESTY -- Return to Jehovah
by FusionTheism inbasically, from what i can tell from the new return to jehovah brochure, is that the governing body is now offering amnesty to anyone who has been gone from the congregation but now wants to return.. it claims it doesn't matter what sins you've done, or what caused you to leave, if you repent to jehovah and ask the elders to help you, and return to the meetings, you'll be warmly welcomed with no disciplinary action or judgment against you..

Funny how those still in cannot seem to grasp the very simple fact that we left because we realized it's a bunch of hooey...not because we "sinned" (as if there is any such thing). We are not miserable and aching to return, for that would be like a dog returning to its vomit. We are simply happy to be rid of the oppressive cult strings that once tied our hands and brains and choked our real selves almost to death.
Life outside is a breath of fresh, beautiful, life-sustaining air for which we are all most grateful.

Eighty-Four year old drives her disfellowshipped son to meetings and sits inside Kingdom Hall.
by RULES & REGULATIONS ini have a customer who's son is a jehovah's witness.
he was disfellowshipped over a year ago.
this is the second time he's been disfellowshipped.

I want to carry the microphones"
by stillin inthis was the reason that our 12 year old son gave us for wanting to be baptized.
my wife and i actually agreed that he should wait a little longer, thank god!
by the time he was 13 he was running wild.

So Stillin, if both of your kids are non-jw, what's keeping you "in" other than your wife? Just curious, thanks for letting me ask. -

The new LDC / RBC Requirements
by DwainBowman inthe new ldc / rbc.
requirements.
there are many requirements, but when you get to the end of the form.

Dwain, I think you have to carry an RBC (or whatever it's called now) card to count your time. Apparently the time spent by "publishers" has such low value as to be ineligible for the monthly report. -

Freemindfade, great list! So true.
Snare, I so agree with your comment. Each day of life IS precious, and those who think that some imaginary fairytale paradise in the far off future is real...miss most of the joy of life.
Humblespud, so glad you have not wasted the bulk of your life missing out on your real life. If there's one truth in the bible, it's that the truth will set you free...and you are on your way to that glorious freedom. You may need to allow some time for grief, as the reality of non-eternal life hits hard...but it's really like having scales fall from your eyes and seeing that life is pretty cool after all. So glad you decided to post here, and welcome!

There was a story going round once about a woman claiming "pioneer" hours but no one ever saw her out in "service". Turns out she kept current mags on her desk at work and claimed all her work hours...ahh, the blatant hypocrisy of spreading Truth and Lies at the same time. Makes you proud to be a jw...never. -

Golden Rule: Pure Garbage?
by willmarite inon another thread a poster made the comment that the golden rule was garbage.
she said it was arrogant and made assumptions.. i didn't want to derail that thread so i started another wondering if this is a common thought about this belief on this forum.
i guess i naively thought the value of doing to others as you want them to do to you was generally accepted as positive.. i understand people have different opinions of jesus as a person but i don't want to get into that here.

If you feel the need to have a rule for guidance, try the Kindness rule: make it your goal to treat each person you meet with kindness.
Eliminates all the fuss.
