Abiogenesis takes another step forward.....
by snare&racket inspark of life: metabolism appears in lab without cells19:42 25 april 2014 by linda geddesfor similar stories, visit the evolution and human evolution topic guidesmetabolic processes that underpin life on earth have arisen spontaneously outside of cells.
the serendipitous finding that metabolism the cascade of reactions in all cells that provides them with the raw materials they need to survive can happen in such simple conditions provides fresh insights into how the first life formed.
it also suggests that the complex processes needed for life may have surprisingly humble origins.. "people have said that these pathways look so complex they couldn't form by environmental chemistry alone," says markus ralser at the university of cambridge who supervised the research.. but his findings suggest that many of these reactions could have occurred spontaneously in earth's early oceans, catalysed by metal ions rather than the enzymes that drive them in cells today.. the origin of metabolism is a major gap in our understanding of theemergence of life.

All appointed men are being told they have to pioneer now!
by stuckinarut2 inyes, you read correctly..... all appointed men have been told in a new letter that they have to pioneer to "set the lead" whenever there is a "special" campaign month.
they use some scripture saying that these ones have to show by example.... so for any of us who are appointed and have learned ttatt, it is going to be very hard to fade during this time!.

The pioneer sisters will do it. Many have forsaken marriage and children so they have lots of free time on their hands.

Wouldn't it be interesting to see the congregations with bunches of money saved up...tell the wts "NO! It belongs to our congregation." Or better still.... give it all back to the members.

how long before you felt refreshed and new?
by losingit inwaking up from jw-land is an extremely exhausting process.
about 3 years ago, i attended a month-long institute for grad school students.
during this time, i was surrounded by people from all over the united states and had active, deep conversations with so many about personal topics, such as religion and divorce.

Losingit, I think your list idea is great! Write down all the things you are thankful for and post it on the fridge. Put big smiley faces and hearts by your girls' names....it will cheer you up every time you see it.
Some folks keep gratitude journals where they make it a point to write down three things every night before they go to sleep. Helps to put you in a positive frame of mind and gives you peace.

A Text Message Exchange
by Emery ini have been in the fading process for over a year now.
nobody has really bothered my wife and me since we've stopped, which i am thankful for.
recently, i've had an old jw friend send me a few text messages relating to business.

Nice job, Emery...but I have to echo the sentiment that you NOT send any further emails as they can and will be used against you in a back room not of your choosing.
From reading the conversation, here's my conclusion: Your friend doesn't want to hear anything you have to say, as he never truly listened to you. All he did was attempt to refute you with illogical statements and a superior attitude. Be careful of sharing any more thoughts with him in written form or even on the phone as recordings will be used against you too.
Best wishes for your continued fade!!!

JWs in Florida and California. Is there really a difference?
by BU2B ini have heard over the years from many different people about how jws in those states are unlike elsewhere.
the parties they have, the way they dress and the permissive attitude.
i just heard from a sister that is from florida, that if you are not "spiritually strong" you will "fall out of the truth" down there.

We were in the Midwest and Baptist South before Florida and yes, it was a culture shock at the hall.
Modesty must stop around Orlando because South Florida is bikinis, short skirts with sandals, and low cleavage. No one thinks twice about it.
Keep in mind, though, that most of the "business" attire in FL is drastically more casual than other areas...short and sandals for guys in the office ain't unusual.

My Experience and how I finally let myself see the truth
by OneEyedJoe infirst off - for those lurkers who feel guilty just for being on this site and reading this (even if you don't read any further, as it is your right to choose that course) i want you to know that you're not alone in what you're going through or in what you are feeling.
if you read on, i hope my experience may be of some small help to you.. this may be long, but i'll try to organize it in a way that doesn't make it painful to read.
to start, i feel it is most beneficial if i'm upfront and honest with my goals from posting this, which are (in order of the degree to which they motivated me):.

Joe, welcome and thanks for a great first post. You've probably read several stories here of ones going through the problem of "I want out, but she's still in", most of which seem to prove the point that you will do best to read Hassan's newer book which helps you to get family members out without a revolt. It takes time and patience but I'm sure you would rather have her with you on the outside.
The good news (!) is really that a good fade is altogether different than being df'd. No one has to go out in a public pronouncement...
Best wishes for your successful new journey!
(((hugs))) to you both
