  My dub aunt thinks Obama is mentioned in the bible.

  she's not even american and doesn't live in the usa so it's not even her area of political awareness really.

  she seems convinced that obama is the prophesied wolf in sheep's clothing mentioned in revelation.. it's unusual for non-us dubs to hold the weirder beliefs, so this is a new one for me.

  she also said that the end is very close now and that things are a foot with north korea; it's clearly the king of the north.. she said exactly the same thing 5 years ago about china, and exactly the same thing 10 years ago about iraq.. derp derp..

  Welcome to the forum, jah LOL! 

  Interesting observation and thanks for sharing.  In the US, I'm not sure the dubs even know what "king of the north" means.  I guarantee my family members could not explain it.

  Do current JWs like to have Bible discussions?

  Magnum, I see the same thing and saw it well before I faded.  Years ago, you were considered spiritual if you enjoyed bible discussions, but I don't see that happening anymore. 

  On the plus side, whenever I wish to make a point without sounding "apostate", I just use the bible as my reference point...along with the ever-popular "would Jesus do that?"

  Thanks for the reminder, Zeb. Silent Lambs was the first place I felt emboldened to write of my daughter's molestation in the bOrg.  Even though I didn't have the courage to permit them to publish it, it was a step toward healing.  This is not my story but is a powerful illustration of what happens when we all begin to speak out against the abuse:

  Site issues: Dec 27 Update

  here's the current status:.

  performance improvements have been made to make things slicker.. the "remember me" issue should now be fixed.. sign-in captcha can be affected by ad-blockers so consider disabling those.. sign-in email is case-sensitive - until i update this consider using your forum username instead.. ie stalls on "queued for processing" when posting a topic or reply but the post has been made (just navigate to active or refresh the topic if replying).. i will be working through issues today and contacting anyone who had sign-in issues to check if they still have problems.. many thanks again for your patience while we work through these teething problems..

  Hi, Simon -- thanks for the new site and all your hours that have gone into its inception.  It does have a cleaner look and some great features. 

  I am running Firefox but have to log in each time I return to the site, even though the "remember me" box is always checked.  No big deal, just information in case it helps.

  i am not usually impressed by human interest stories but this guy does more good in five minutes, does more to promote humanity in 5 minutes than a bus load of sterile literature carts and cartons of propaganda.. what say you, can one person make difference?

  Each of us can make a difference.  Any act of kindness touches not only the recipient and their associates, but the giver's heart as well.

  IMAGINE the good that could actually be done if the millions of jws actually helped people.

  The Watchtower refusal to provide real, tangible assistance even to its own members is EVIL.  The leaders, the GB, are like a rich man in his own little world who keeps every penny for himself and can't be bothered to assist anyone else, even though that rich man grew up poor.  They are modern day Pharisees who have started their own religion and insist that people follow every little rule or face expulsion from their society.  Their hearts are COLD.  Jesus himself would boot them from the temple.

  Millie, in the US an individual may accept cash gifts up to $14,000 from any other individual without reporting them for tax purposes.  That is the level above which the Gift Tax kicks in.

  You can bet your bottom dollar that these cash gifts are never reported.

  haven't posted much recently as i've been busy but in a good way!!.

  it's been a pretty awful couple of weeks in the news with terrorist attacks, which took the shine off the christmas build up.

  i wonder if anyone thinks it may all be building up to something??
