  Jehovah's Witnesses #10 in Yahoo trending

  i'm sitting here drinking my morning coffee and opened up the yahoo page to see jw's trending at #10. clicked on it and the first article is about the child abuse.. did something happen lately that would get so many people doing a massive search?.

  Governing Body, painted in a corner, now what?

  the governing body have painted themselves in a corner, so to speak.

  if they acknowledge their response to abuse claims was insensitive, unloving and inadequate they are denying the belief that "god's way" is best and risk losing abuse cases.

  if they stick with it and say it is "god's way according to the bible" they will be seen as cult leaders and risk losing abuse cases.

  johnamos - Yes, blame the parents. It is, of course, the parents' fault that the elders gave a wink*wink to the known child rapist and protected his identity for years. It is, of course, the parents' fault that the elder assigning car groups knowingly placed that confessed child rapist into a car group with innocent children. It is, of course, the parents' fault that they didn't even know about the abuse for years because the jw-protected child rapist convinced the child its parents would be killed by Jehovah if the child told anyone.

  In a normal scenario, the parents would of course run screaming to the police and personally hunt down this monster to seek revenge and/or justice for their child.
  

  However, this is by no means a "normal" situation. Here are the realities:

  • This is a CULT. A well-trained, fabulously successful CULT that knows precisely how to indoctrinate people to do its bidding and believe its doctrines.
  • The parents are under the influence of this CULT and obviously are not acting rationally, and therefore do not want to cause people under the influence and control of Satan and his system to have reason to speak ill of almighty Jehovah and his One True Religion.
    
  • The elders are under the influence of this CULT and are controlled by the Watchtower Society and the Governing Body, who do everything in their power to protect these child rapists and pedophiles rather than protecting innocent children and their families.

  And you know this. And knowing this, you choose to point the finger at the parents? Seriously, you need to reconsider your thinking on this subject.

  getting alot of e-mails from angry brothers saying things like i qoute "this is the straw broke the camels back.." "bloody idiots.." etc.

  last nights news featured the australian commision into jehovah's witness elders not reporting pedophiles.

  it was very damning!

  BUT we've already heard that thinking ones are leaving the cult, so let's hope the child rape stories will cut through the persecution hype.

  How Far Apart Were Your Legs?

  several threads on here about the excellent bbc r4 programme this week ('the report') focussing on rape and abuse in barry, south wales, jws.

  fat pervert mark sewell later got 14 years and i hope he is enjoying every minute of it.. the courageous ladies who spoke on the programme were articulate, reasonable and made a tremendous impression.. the quote in the thread title made an impression on me, and i hope, on all listeners.. forget religious, theological, 'biblical' issues and cut to the basics.

  a rape victim was asked to demonstrate - to demonstrate, ffs - to three unqualified (middle-aged at least, presumably) men just how far her legs were apart when she was raped.. i have rarely heard anything so outrageous, and i used to investigate rape and abuse in my profession.

  Was told my preschool-aged daughter would have to face her accuser in a jc. I told them there was no way that I would allow her to be further traumatized and they backed off. But they also pulled the Don't Tell Anyone What Happened line because big j's name would be dragged through the mud. I still can't believe I stayed "in" after that happened, but like most I believed it to be personal shortcomings of those particular elders.

  That's a good reason to get this out before the public, because the mysogynistic abuse of women in this cult is not only barbaric but epidemic and must be stopped.

  Daughter of Elder Reinstated Within Months!

  a young sister in my husband's congregation who is the daughter of an elder has been reinstated in a matter of months.

  whereas another sister in the same congregation has been disfellowshipped now for nearly two years!.

  seems like it's who you know..

  i keep reading of some guy who is so upset at someone that he goes into a theater and shoots 20 people..

  or a kid that is so mad that the other kids made fun of him that he goes to school and shoots a bunch of kids..

  or some guy that was fired from his job and he goes back and shoots of bunch of his workers.

  HELP - A Guide to Fade

  Cog, I remember there used to be a saying that new ones in "the truth" should be locked up for six months because they are so excited about what they've learned that they run around telling everyone and they seem quite crazy.

  I think learning TTATT is the same. We learn omg all this bizarre truth and we have a gazillion light bulbs clicking on at once and we want everyone else to see what we see and we want to save everyone and we want to run screaming away from the cult!!!!!!!!!

  But wait, then reality hits, and we realize that our family members (a) think we're nuts and (b) aren't ready to handle the real truths quite yet.

  So we prance, and stew, and wait, and get antsy, and it's hard as heck to get through the day without shouting it from the rooftops but then we realize [again] that our family members (a) think we're nuts and (b) aren't quite ready to handle the real truths yet.

  So slowly, we learn to remember what triggered us, and how long it took, and think about taking a really deep breath and figuring out how to save those we love that are several or many steps behind us. Learning TTATT is many things, but one thing it requires to share with someone else is PATIENCE. And that's so hard to do!!!

  But you can do it. :) You're on your way to a new and wondrous life with your precious wife. Plan it well, be patient, and it will happen. YOU CAN DO THIS.

  so i was seating at the meeting this past sunday.

  the latest wt article to be studied speaks of "using our imagination" to think about the blessings of the kingdom.

  the whole study was centered around how we can, and should, spent time visualizing ourselves in the new world, working along with our brothers.

  I remember getting to the point where I said, "Well, if Jehovah knows my heart and still decides to kill me at Armageddon, I don't want to live in Paradise and I'll just have to do without seeing dead family members."

  It was a glorious day when the emotional manipulation lost its hold.

  Wishing all the truly soft-hearted dear ones could be awakened and get out to live real lives.
