Spies in the congregation
by chappy inthe article that bothered me the most was when they said if you work in a doctors office you must report to the elders if a brother or sister comes to the doctor with a (questionable) problem..
i read this comment by galaxy7 in an older post, never heard this before.
does anyone know which publication?.

I cant remember the year of the article but I certainly remember that being said. If I remember correctly the article was also discussing other situations such as "Is it ok for a person to sell Christmas cards in a store?" Should a JW postman deliver Christmas/birthday cards etc" It was ok for the store person and the postman to do this. Then the discussion turned to doctors and the rights to privacy of patients. What you quoted above was the result. eg, If a sister had an abortion it was right for the nurse to tell the society.

The idea behind this 24 hr thing is so that at turning out times all the yobbo's dont meet up and start brawling. The police are real busy at 2 am in the mornings because of the current situation. By giving it a 24 hour bash, all the yobbo's leave at various times and a lot of the fighting will decrease! Well thats what they hope for anyway.
On the other hand, instead of police dealing with the fighting, counsellors will be dealing with family breakdowns, divorces, abandoned children etc. I believe all 24 hour pubs should have posters plastered of abandoned familes all over the walls to prick the consciences of those who have such families and yet are still sitting in the pubs during early hours of the morning. it is a disgrace!

by Delta20 inmy name is jaron, 19 years old, i'm from the netherlands, and in about a month i am going to start joining the jw's meetings and i'm kind of looking forward to become a jw.
i can of course tell ya'll my entire spiritual story, but that would take an entire bookwork.
in a nuttshell: my father is an ex-jw, my half-sis (from an earlier marriage from my dads) is one of those "special pioneers", and i am jewish (my mom is jewish).
