i already heard one argument on this, that the scripture referred to (proverbs 4:18) in context was actually advice of a father to his son on how during his life he would continue to grow spiritually throughout his life.

but a closer look shows that there is no mention at all of new light, in any context.

it says "but the path of the righteous ones is like the bright light that is getting lighter and lighter until the day is firmly estblished" [analogy: from darkness of the night gradually to the full light of the day?].

You are right!

The path of the rightous begins with "truth", thats why they are deemed "rightous". It doesnt begin with total error and then turns into the truth along the way.

To demonstrate.... We can say that "today I learned that Jesus was born of a virgin" Then the light gets brighter, ie "Today I learned that he was the son of god" then brighter "Today I learned that he raised the dead" then brighter "He will die on a stake".

See, the path got brighter but it begins with a truth "he was born of a virgin".

See how the path gets darker for the unrightous..."Jesus returned in 1874".."No he returned in 1914"..darker still "The generation that saw 1914 will see the end..."He will resurrect the dead in 1925" darker still "It could be 1975"..."the end of this century perhaps??" too darn dark...

Ok, hope you get my drift..

when i see how many hits various topics receive compared to the number of posts, it?s obvious to me how many benefit from this forum.

i know most of us skip around from topic to topic before posting, but i think there is a large number of lurkers that read but are not registered members.

in my old hall we had three interracial couples.

in fact i didn't even realise that they were interracial until i was about 12. .

Very common in the Midlands UK, I dated and was to marry inter-racially, my finding out the "truth" about the Org ended that 3 yr relationship. Most of my mates married inter-racially and I liked the huge numbers of I/R couples as it demonstrated the "great crowd out of eery nation" !

Hi GBL, sorry to hear your sad news, its always hard to find the right thing to say in such sad times but we are thinking of you. One of my grans died a faithful JW the other died a "catholic". Both of them were totally great and I still miss them. I can empathise with how you feel and send warm thoughts your way.
