  the problem.

  many here are supporters of the movement to expose the wt society's harmful policies that seem to shelter molesters and punish victims.

  a common scenario is there are not two witnesses or a confession to the sin and the "loyal" elders have told the victim and their parents that 'there is nothing more we can do'.

  Hubby gets Scan tomorrow!

  he has had 4 chemo treatments and they are giving him a scan tomorrow to see if they are staying the same size or shrinking!

  (tumors).he just woke up so i know he is nervous.usually he sleeps good.sure could use some good news!.

  i have the feeling they will stop the chemo if it isn't doing any good!.

  After being forced to study the "United in worship" book for several weeks with the elders to get me to see how rightous it was to shun a suicidal JW, It dawned on me to just tell em that I will call them when I am ready to study the book again, like, dont call me I'll call you! That did the trick and gave me time to research and get out. So a simple " I'll give you a ring when its convienient" works to put them off for a few months. It just took a long time for it to dawn on me that I could ask them not to call until I was ready. Ironically we had studied that book twice in book study and I had studied with 9 other people! Like I new it back to cover already!

  I was a cocky JW and was confident that I could stand up to anyone....however I never met anyone on the doors that could handle the situation as aptly as you no doubt could, so my guess is that had I met anyone who could match me I would have lost the cocky confidence!

  Two witness rule IS A MAJOR PROBLEM

  it may not be the main problem or the only problem and i do agree that this needs to be treated as a criminal issue, but let me give you a very good example of why it is important for a problem like this to also be taken care of congergationally.. my father in law dan fitzwater sr has now been taken care of criminally.

  ( no thanks to the wts) he is in prison for child molestation.

  he has been abusing children for a very long time, but he is only serving a short time in prison.

  I believe that it is because he was not DFed that many rank and file think he is innocent.

  If he had been DFed I truely feel that these ones would have 2nd thoughts about Dan's guilt or innocence.

  Great thoughts...

  By taking no action they are saying he is innocent ! In a JW mind this clears him of any charges so the child suffers again! Hadnt thought of this so thanks for the post!

  how is this.... i started working for a company in sydney while still a witness.

  i moved from a little country town to there so didnt know a soul.

  well the receptionist that worked with me was very loud and out going and used to swear quite a bit.. but i started picking up signals as you do when your a witness that this girl was also a witness.

  Kinda, sort of:

  After disassociating myself an old JW freind of mine used to take pride in ignoring me every morning when we would cross paths on the way to work, they did this for about three years, then one morning I walked a different way to work on turning a blind corner I physically bumped into the JW by accident, when I lifted my head to apologise to the person my face was filled with smoke as the JW blew out the smoke of a cigarette right into my face! Bwahahahahaha, that was a great moment for me. Caught em smoking! I looked forward to seeing if they would continue to ignore me but never saw them again.

  hahahaha, you deserve even more credit for your humility!

  Its been a great thread, Jst2 and Ladylee have made it clear that the issue is not the 2 witness law, though a very disgusting misinterpretation, its just another cover for a vicious wolf.

  Ladylee credit to you too for the following observation:

  Take away the 2 witness law and the problem remains:

  They are not to take their brother to court

  2. They are not to bring reproach on Jehovah's WTS's name.
  3. They go hoping for justice
  4. They go so that the child will not have to testify in court (they don't realize the world is a lot gentler and kinder to child victims than inept elders)
  5. They go because they think that if the child has to talk to someone they know about what happened it is easier than talking to a stranger.
  6. They go because they are out-right told there is no justice/wisdom in the world (who else would we go to comes to mind here)
