michael jackson's people are pooh-poohing reports that the embattled entertainer has joined the nation of islam.
"that's not true," his rep, stuart beckerman, tells the new york daily news, while a jackson family lawyer adds, "michael has always been a jehovah's witness.".
ooooooooooooooh, I just bet the world of Jehovah's Witnesses are thrilled that Michael Jackson's spokesperson and lawyer say in newspapers (and can be quoted) that he's still a Jehovah's Witness......just like he always has been.
Why hasn't the WTBTS stepped up to bat to help this alledged jw child abuser like they've helped other jw child abusers?
metatron's post about the decline and fall of "the society" led me to want to post some snippets of my family's saga with "the truth".. my parents were taught witness doctrine by a man named jim jones.
he was threatened by mobs during wwii for being a witness and not being patriotic.
my parents met during wwii at an airplane factory before they were witnesses.

For the most part - a very fine synopsis of JWism.
But the disagreement areas are valid - and I agree with them too.
1. It depends upon where you live. I live in SC - kids are *allowed* to go to a community college for a two year program .....some of them. Other than that - there is flack and backlash against them & their parents.
2. The Williams Sisters and Prince? Lol - what are the jw's going to DO against them? The Public Relations problem would be a nightmare - and perhaps litigation resulting. DO? Accept them & their money.
My elder bil almost broke a blood vessel when I brought to his attention that the above celebrities are JW's (in front of his children). He was adament - "in name only." If they were REAL jw's - they'd look & act like real jw's, now wouldn't they?

since being allowed to celebrate christmas my family and i have been making traditions for ourselves.
one of the things we do every year is see the trans-siberian orchestra when their christmas show comes through.
for those of you not familiar with it... a lot of it is classical music played on electric guitars and electric violins... some of it is original... and most, if not all, is very good.
I've loved the songs I've heard by them over the years. Rather like Christmas carols on speed.
Gets you to move faster for sure. I have a CD (somewhere) of an opera kinda thing they did- quite odd (Beethoven or Bach or something).
They came thru Columbia SC a couple of weeks ago - but I missed it.
Damn the working class dogs.

it seems that jw's believe that, unless you're really evil -- you're weak.
so weak, that you need others to help you decide whether or not to stay with the jw's.. my jw dad (a congregation elder) said i sounded "just like my sister" who had da'd herself years earlier.

Quite the well-dressed Christmas Tree!
The gifts add to the sparkle & shine too. Last year was my first attempt. My little tree was lovely....but just didn't have the *umph.* Couldn't figure it out. I was looking in a magazine and "Duh!" - no presents wrapped prettily under the tree! Mine were stacked neatly in the bedroom.
Got the things out & under tree and voila! Umph!

I think of it as negative punishment & reinforcement to the one *sinning/disobeying* (jw standards)..............but never thought of it as "aggressive" on the part of the shunner. Thanks to ol' Dr. Phil (and Scully) for New Light.

Remember that old Watchtower saying that *in ancient times, rebellious children were stoned.* Also the Watchtower (almost quote) which said that *in ancient times, apostates were stoned to death. We can't do that today, but we can show godly hatred of the sin.*
I think Jehovah's Witnesses would be excellent poster children for Passive-Aggressive Behaviour.
according to the bible, the angels saw the daughters of men, materialized into human bodies and married the women, had children.
here's my question...did they create for themselves a human body or did they transform themselves into a human body that already existed?
i know this may seem silly, but i was just wondering where the sperm came from to impregnate the women?
About the heighth of some skeletons............what about the Zulu tribe in Africa. They're outstanding in many ways - I think the average (at least used to be) around 7ft?
Of course, the Pygmies have already been mentioned - but it does show that a remarkable difference is seen in human size. Also, the dead person could have just been a oddity - like those which frequented circus side shows.
As for the group of tall skeletons - it could also be that the beginnings of that group were ostracized (or chose to marry like sized ones) - and went off to form their own group. Intermarrying. Very common.
The angels "materialized" - get it? It was like Star Trek. They shimmered for an instant, then gradually became present.
That's the explanation I was taught. After the flood, the angels weren't allowed to materialize anymore - thus the need to takeover another human. If they could materialize a body, then they obviously could materialize sperm. If we're making the story up - and we are - this explanation is as good as any other one. Make your own up!
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, this could go on forever.....because there is NO ANSWER as it's make believe. Trust your child, when it's make believe - believe whatever you want. Well, that's the WT way too.

i used to dread the prospect of having an evening meeting to to go hanging over my head all day long on a major holiday, almost as much as being compelled to ``go out in service.".

Occasionally I went out in service on holidays. I hated it, just stopped going. Too stressful, shameful & embarrassing. I NEVER took my kids.....just too hard to see their eyes lusting after the toys.
AND THE SMELLS OF TURKEY COOKING! Oh Lord, that was just too hard for us!
Meetings? Yeah, I went and I HATED TO GO TO MEETINGS ON HOLIDAYS! But I was a runt....and knew the nice sisters/brothers judged and talked about those who didn't show up. "Spiritually weak" as opposed to those spiritually strong who showed up and hated it.
