Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread
by Simon inthis topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

These models are ridiculous. Yet, states are making decisions based on them. It's time to allow counties and individuals to decide when things can open up. Based on what they see on the ground in their area. More local decision making please. -

What Do You Think Of Fining People For Not Wearing A Mask?
by minimus insome towns in massachusetts are fining people 1000 dollars for not wearing a mask đˇ outdoors.
starting wednesday, the governor mandates everyone from 2 years of age up, must wear a mask or get a 300 dollar fine!.
of course some governors are recommending that you rat out anyone that doesnât follow their orders.. i donât like it!đđż.

Wow, yeah that sounds crazy. I was ok with a few weeks of staying away from each other to "flatten the curve" but this has all gotten a bit crazy. I'm glad I live in a fairly rural area now. Things aren't quite as bad here although they are now requiring mask wearing at the big box home improvement stores. I wonder how that episode would look on 'Last Man Standing '?

Has Anything Positive Come Out Of This Coronavirus Isolation For You?
by minimus ini guess you could make a case of more families being together although that might not be the best situation.
less cars and pollutants mean we can breathe better.
if you were ever uncomfortable in crowds, this could be good news.

Hi Kate, I didn't see your other thread but there are other forums for people who are lost and confused because of JW stuff (if this is what you mean). If this one isn't fitting you try another on for size. Good luck!

Self-isolating JW's will at least get a taste of what disfellowshipping is like..
by mikronboy inhumans are basically social animals.
see most any isolated mammal, whether in a zoo or even an outcast of its pride and you'll see one mentally disturbed creature.
maybe, after this pandemic has faded and humans are able to interact once more, some jw's might think twice before being so quick to shun.

This has nothing on disfellowshipping. That said, I'm sure JW's find it difficult. For me, it's normal. But now I'm a seasoned self isolator.đ

I have a son and a nephew at Walkill. I have recently been told they are both doing well. Also, the facility has been on lockdown for some time now.

Do You Feel Your Rights Are Being Trampled On By Government Regarding Coronavirus?
by minimus ini support local and state and federal governmentâs power to safeguard the public.
i wonder is it getting to a point where we will be told we canât go out anymore, canât use your phone or computer anymore because of the viruses that we can get, etc.
are we prolonging this virus at all ?
-
Realbavman
No, I do not believe our rights are being trampled on. Sometimes extreme measures must be taken for the public good. This is an extreme case where extreme measures must be taken.

Saving Money While Stuck At Home
by Simon inso you're stuck at home, you may be worried about your income, welcome to the world of filling your stuck-in-the-house time with saving some money!.
here in canada, our energy costs are going up because we have a carbon tax.
today, in the middle of the crisis, trudeau is raising it by 50%, probably as some perverse "thank you" to all the truckers delivering vital goods.

A few money saving and immune system building tips from the upper midwest United States that I have used.
Make your own homeade wine (pick or barter for apples, sumac and so forth).
Go fishing, clean and freeze your catch.
Plant a garden, especially fresh greens.
Hunt or at least pick up fresh venison roadkill.
Swap sweat for fresh maple syrup and small farm and grass fed beef.
Cook and bake homeade food.
Exercise and eat healthy.
Take in plenty of fresh air, sunshine and vitamin C.
Do your own home repairs.
Save your vacation and sick days for if things get really bad. Work now if you can.
