Dear Brother "You Know"
by AMNESIAN inbrother, please, if you would, inform as to exactly what your genuine view is of the wbts and, particularly, the gb in relation to bible prophecy, christianity, and its self-professed role as the so-called "fds" and sole spokesman for jehovah?
much of what you post (or, at least, the posts i've read) is clearly at tremendous odds with their published teachings, yet, on its face, your position seems to be as one of their staunchest defenders/supporters.
i don't wish to in any way ridicule you ---there's a bit too much of that around here (from you included!

You Know,
I am impressed by your post...
I would like to ask you an honest question from the heart..
First, I'm not nor have I ever been a JW..
I personally believe that god = love (I believe there is a scripture that actually states that)..
Now, the way I look at it, unconditional love is as close to godly love as any human can get, yet the JW's don't have unconditional love, nor do they have unconditional friendship (I.E. You must be a member in good standing of the organization to be 'loved' and be treated as a 'real friend'), which frequently goes against a JW's personal conscience... (Shunning of a family member or a close friend I'm sure is not an issue where the person's conscience is not torn between loyalty to the family/friend and loyalty to the organization.. In the end, however, the organization wins out over the persons conscience..)
But, I'm very willing to admit that I do not know everything, and may be in error.. Can you explain your "love" to me so I might understand it, and more to the point, explain scripturally why I shouldn't show unconditional love (Like what I believe Jesus has shown), but it should be conditional. And if it is to be conditional, on what condition???
If you try to Imitate Jesus, as my friend has told me over and over again, then show me the scriptures (in context, and explain them to me) that state how I should love conditionally, and show conditional friendship based on devotion to an organization full of fallable men that by both our accounts has made many mistakes..
My JW friend is doing everything he can to show me he has the truth, which will entail showing me that the love I have for my fellow man is not the type of love that God and Jesus approve of..
Can you help me by trying to explain it to me.. He has been unable to do so thus far..
Thank you for any insight you can offer on the subject..

CO's giving new instructions?
by Yerusalyim inmy step-son, a jw (18 years old) is here to visit for the summer.
in a conversation yesterday he informed me that his co is now instructing congregations to "use the bible more" in their presentations when they're out on service.
sean said, "he said this is because we don't want to be known as just selling, i mean placing, magazines.

I know my friend has made it a very big point to me that they are being encouraged lately to read the bible more.. He said that has been a push for the past year or two...

Jehovah Witnesses & Gambling
by buffalosrfree inin the land of the indian, no pun intended, their are jdubs who think it okay to support the local casino whether via the restaurant or the slots or even bingo.
the spin i got from some of them on it, was that they were going out to have a good time and spending $20 to $40 on the slots that they were going to spend any way was not in and of itself gambling.
the preponderance of jdubs using the casino restaurants is spun out in the same way, just an evening out.

What's going on?
by biblexaminer ini finally found the words to describe what's happening with the jws all around me.
it's the difference between faith, and superstitious attachment.
the dictionary describes faith as found below.

Interesting post... I've been trying to show my JW friend for about 8 months now that he doesn't have the truth.. On 2 seperate occaisions, both by accident, I got him to actually shake and I saw the fear of God, errr, the GB, in his eyes..
And both times, he ended the conversation with, "It's a good way to live"... I guess that's the current version of the rabbit's foot...
It is very frustrating, especially now, since he is dating, and I don't want him to make a mistake that he will regret for the rest of his life, considering I know how shallow and superficial their "love" is towards one another... If nothing else, I hope that the girl he is dating really loves him, and not just "witness love"...
BTW: Watching him actually think on his own about questions regarding the organization, and trying to come up with answers are almost just as painful.. Let alone that most of the answers don't make sense... He actually get's physically ill...!!!

Dateline Report/JW Stonewalling/You
by Francois2 inelsewhere in the active topics list (see "society on documenting personal views ") a letter from the wtb&ts to congregations has been reproduced.
it is obvious this letter has been either written or vetted by a lawyer, or more likely by a committee of lawyers.
it fairly reeks of legalese masquerading as a concern for accuracy.

When is the story supposed to air, and which network will it be on?

Dear Apostates, just suppose....
by TheApostleAK in...that the watchtower bible & tract society really is jehovah god's earthly organisation.... wouldn't that make you all "vessels made fit for destruction" (romans 9:22 - 24) by being opposers of jehovah god and his true organisation?.
just making this warning so you can't complain to jehovah god when his "fear-inspiring day" (joel 2:11) comes that you weren't told.. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
