I understand.. And thanks for letting us know what they said.. It is interesting that they chose such a flimsy excuse for this one.. But, then again, considering what they did, they don't have much to stand on anyway, so I guess flimsy in their eyes is better than admitting guilt!!!!

major news folks.. i have obtained the dpi directory for 1999/2000, published by the un's dpi in 1999. i have copied 19 relevant pages of this document.
lloyd barry's name and ciro's name are both mentioned.
also it gives the criteria etc.

Here is one I like.. It's a full page advertisement that the WT placed in the New York Times on July 5, 1998 addressed to the "President of France" trying to persuade him not to tax the WTBTS claiming that it's because of religious freedom...
Notice the paragraph that begins "Human rights violated"...
Contrast that to your quote from the WT:

I guess you can turn people away from god and towards the Human Peace organization as long as it suites your material needs (saving about $60Million dollars in Tax money)...
Who would have thunk that God's organization was sooo materialistic?
Oh, and another interesting side note.. The JW's certainly do not accept any of the other "Chrisitan" religions as real Christian.. But, man, when it suits their needs, they certainly have no problem lumping themselves in with the rest of "Christendom"...

Is there a way that you can scan the letter you got and post it? Maybe even have it certified or something so there will be no question as to it's authenticity?
The letter that Mr. Bates of the Gaurdian received was in E-Mail form, and I'm sure that some of the JW's out there can say "It's an apostate that hacked into the email" or something..
But if you received an actaul HardCopy, that would be very damming evidence that is the official line from the GB..

as of 6:02 pm last night i received a facsimile from paul hoeffel at the un on the wts.. he gave me 3 of the 4 things i requested in two paragraphs.. i have sent a scanned version to steve bates and someone else.. i sent it to kent and randy.
and kent and randy have posted the official united nations letter on their web sites.. here is the letter - put your cursor on the image and then right click on your mouse and hit "save image" to your computer.. .
after you look at kent's web site and you people still think this it is a fake letter, phone paul hoeffel yourself at (212) 963-8070.. hawk

Actually it works like this (unless they are hypocrits)..
They send one of the brothers to do research on a subject using material not approved for them to read..
When they come back with the material, the GB says thank you, and then promptly arranges a JC to have them reprooved for reading material they shouldn't have...
The process repeats, but a new brother is used every time, since the 'old' brother is still being reprooved..
<HEHEHEHE>.. I'm sure that's how it works <G>..

Does the article say that the "golden rule" is at the very top of the list of "god's laws" or anything like that?
I know the bible says if you follow this rule you have followed the law? I'm just curious if the article says that as well..
the september 8th, 2001 awake aimed to answer this question.
to say the least, this is a topic of great controversy and embarrassment for christains.. essentially, the awake said that god is unequivocally opposed to oppresive forms of slavery (as if any type of slavery is not considered oppresive to the one being enslaved) and that he demonstrated his opposition to such slavery by freeing the isrealites from the oppresive eyptians (but of course leaving slaves under more despotic conditions to fend for themselves).. they acknowledged that god allowed the isrealites to own slaves, but not opression of them (an example given was that the isrealites could take women as slaves, but could only have sex with them if they made them their wives.
in the "opressive" forms the women would have sex with their masters without the benefit of marriage and only for the masters sexual gratification.
Do you have a scanner? I'd love to see that article.. That's amazing they are actually saying some slavery is good..!!!
I can imagine that is to quell the "truth" that they are slaves of men.. Next time you goto a JW and tell him/her that they are slaves to man, I can see the answer now.. Yeah, but god says it's a good slavery!!! <disgusting!>
