Help!! I have just spoken to a brother who is part of a group of single brothers and sisters who meet together once a week to discuss bible topics and he has been told by and elder that the organisation "banned" these private meetings years ago. I told him I remember that article but he is adamant that the society would never do that (!) Now I am fairly sure I remember that article whether it was in a KM or one of the mags I cant recall but I am sure I remember them saying we needed nothing more than the food that the slave class provided (another means to control us),does anyone have the details of that article because I have said I will find it and let him have it. cheers everyone.

Is it only male members here in Scotland that have the courage to walk away? or is there realy a "lady who lunches" out there who would meet me for coffee. I would normaly feel such a prat writing all this but this forum has given me extraordinary courage to do things I would never have done in those dark old days. Coffee anybody???

Oh dear, reading these comments, makes me weep with shame and guilt, and brings home to me just how destructive it is for children in this organisation, and I was one of those very parents who imposed those beliefs on small children believing implicitly that this was indeed the "truth" and the best "education" I could give to a child, and,....I was wrong, very very wrong. Theres no good saying sorry now because its done and cant be undone, but it will never change how I feel about what I did to my children in the name of love. We did believe that this was the truth and we did belive that we were serving God,but actualy we were serving the elders and the rest of that congregation, there were times when we went against our own natural instincts as parents, such as birthdays and xmas and school disco,s and all those other things that vulnerable little children need and enjoy, remember that phrase" your better with no friends than friends in the world" no wonder our children lived "double" lives, who could blame them, the poor things. We all survived and my children are lovely, confident, sucessful young people who were much kinder and more loving than us and when we said how sorry we were for what we had imposed on them for years, well, they said "look Mum and Dad,dont worry, were all fine we all love each other and were still all together" God Im so lucky I realy am,but if I had my time over again I would bring my children up without the damaging toxic influence of any religeon, love is what makes children grow, just love, thats all. So everybody, here is one set of parents who recognised EVENTUALY their love may have been sincere but it was sincerely misguided. So young people, were sorry to you all and one day your Mums and Dads may be writing you just such a letter, try and be kinder to them that they have been to you, hatred is wearying and you die a little bit more every time you let it chip away at you ,I know this, but because of all of you on this very forum I have stopped hating those people who were so vile to us,and were recovering as a family. Thanks everyone realy thanks so much.

Britain | Jehovah's Witnesses hushed up child sex scandal | July 16, 2013
by jwleaks inchurch officials hushed up a child sex scandal in their ranks and refused to co-operate with police.. .
jehovah witness ministerial servant gordon leighton admitted sexually abusing a child when he was confronted by his church elders, a court heard.. but during the official police investigation, the 53-year-old who made headlines in the 1990s when wife yvonne, 28, died after refusing a blood transfusion after childbirth on religious grounds denied any illegal wrongdoing.. and when detectives asked elders simon preyser, harry logan and david scott to make statements about the confession, all three refused and said what they had heard was confidential.. for three years, the elders refused to co-operate with the criminal investigation and kept up that stance when the case was brought before newcastle crown court after the victim made a complaint to police.. each was issued with a witness summons which they fought to overturn before being ordered to testify by judge penny moreland citing public interest.. their barrister richard daniels said the men had a duty to god not to breach confidence.. he added: privileged communication between members of the congregation and ministers is an absolute right and duty and there is no power in law to breach such a confidence.. judge moreland said: it is apparent that the three elders who were present when this conversation took place are in possession of relevant evidence as to a point which is of real significance in this case.. they claim the right of confidentiality, they claim that what they heard said by the defendant during the course of that meeting ought to be subject to privilege, as ministers of religion.. judge moreland refused to withdraw the summonses and said: public interest is clearly in favour of this evidence being given.. what was said by the defendant on that occasion is of great significance in the trial.. despite the judges ruling, the men still refused to make statements to police until just hours before they were called before the jury.. leighton, who has since been expelled from the church at lambton kingdom hall in washington, denied two charges of indecency with a child and seven of indecent assault.. he was yesterday found guilty of two charges of indecency with a child and six of indecent assault.
he was found not guilty of one indecent assault charge, on the direction of the judge.. he was remanded in custody until he is sentenced next month but warned he is facing a lengthy spell behind bars.. prosecutor katherine dunn told the court the victim, who is now an adult, broke her silence in 2009.. the court heard how at a special church meeting, leighton admitted sexual abuse and made excuses for his behaviour.. miss dunn said: the elders conducted their own investigation.

Yet another reason to rejoice that we are out of this organisation, they are no better than the catholic church which they condemn from the platform. Now why would any responsible man or women cover up the sexual abuse of a child? What is the matter with any right thinking person in that congregation, they should be ashamed to be associated with it,I would.

I was utterly astrounded to learn that they say Jesus is the mediator only for the annointed, and I only learned this last year when I read the CofC book! I must have been like many in the "truth" today I must have sat there for 34 years and just swallowed without chewing!! Well now I have chewed, and I dont like the taste so I am spitting it out!
