I agree with "finally awake" my son in laws parents wont speak to him either because he does not attend meetings,he is angry and hurt and blames "this terrible religeon" but sadly the truth is they themselves are choosing to ignore him,see me walking past my kids in the street ?,never in a million years!

Feeling Disfellowshipped
by meep5 inlet me briefly explain my back-story: i grew up in a jw household and was technically a jw until 20 years old.
i stopped attending meetings in 1998 and told my parents i was done in 1999. i'm not sure where i saw my future when i was 19 but i know for a fact i didn't see myself as a "witness" then.
i hated the hypocrisy and the extreme gossip.

by losingit inafter more than a month of not attending the meetings, my girls will be returning to the meeting tomorrow.
their father is taking them.
i was so happy because my girls were free from the boredom, drudgery and mind control inflicted upon those that attend.

Hello hollowheart,I was exactly where you are now a year ago and then I found the courage to visit this forum,I have made a realy good friend and I got so much support and encouragement from so many members,comatose is right,come on in and meet us,and I promise you it will get easier.

Shunning for inactive ones?
by frogonmytoe ini visited my sister in a small town in the midst of the country, the town has a population of 3,000 and there's about 70 in the cong.
anyway, there was a local needs talk a few months ago about associating with family members who didn't live under your roof and no longer went to meetings.
one family of an elder dad and three sons (one an elder too, the others have stopped going) and a daughter (still going but married a 'worldly') are quite prominent and one half of a typical congregational feud.

I agree with seperationofpowers, we have not been to meetings for almost two years now and never get visits from either elders or brothers its as if were disfellowshipped,and my husband often say what happened to the principle of leaving the 99 sheep to go and find the lost one! Mind you if they did come looking I would be out of the back door so fast! To little too late now.

Hi Demokan,nice to hear a young person with an enquiring mind,its always good to ask questions but even better to ask those questions of your Mum and Dad before you ask people who you dont realy know. They do love you and care about you,so might be an idea to find a quiet time to have a talk with them first eh? You have all the time in the world,so dont rush sweetheart.

Please help. I am losing the plot.
by wordyword inafter being a witness for 40 years, i now find myself disfellowshipped.. i have had a number of doubts for a few years now, but still feel as if i'm living my life in the "t minus " to armageddon spector.. my parents are in their 80's and my dear mother is in very bad health.
i was allowed to pop through - about once a month to make sure my parents were ok and for them to see their grandchildren.
this all ended after the july watchtower article and especially since the district convention - with all the "counsel" on associating with disfellowshipped family members.. around 6 weeks ago, my dad asked me point blank why i wasn't trying to get reinstated.

What a dreadful situation for you,where is the love eh? Can you not ring someone in the congregation that you know is sensible and get them to talk to your Dad,that poor old couple must be in such a state,realy sorry for you love,what about the grankids? can they not cross the bridge? realy feel for you mate,it makes one not want to be part of such an organisation, Keep us updated we cant do much love,but were all here.x

Private meetings banned??
by franticfran ini have just spoken to a brother who is part of a group of single brothers and sisters who meet together once a week to discuss bible topics and he has been told by and elder that the organisation "banned" these private meetings years ago.
i told him i remember that article but he is adamant that the society would never do that (!
) now i am fairly sure i remember that article whether it was in a km or one of the mags i cant recall but i am sure i remember them saying we needed nothing more than the food that the slave class provided (another means to control us),does anyone have the details of that article because i have said i will find it and let him have it.

I have just passed on the info you were all kind enough to pass on to me and he has gone off to "check" that what I said was accurate,and we all know that it will make no difference dont we! Its only when your outside this organisation that the scales start to fall from your eyes,he actualy asked me how I was dong spiritualy,and I replied with confidence "actualy I think I am doing rather well now,thanks for asking,I no longer require anyones approval for what I think or do,I feel quite the adult now emotionaly" ( Im 64 years old for goodness sake!) So all you lovely bright sparky people once again I thank you for you help and your spirited debate. So refreshing.

Agree with all of the above! It got so bad in the end that one brother I knew became so worried that someone would misrepresent him that he would tape shepherding calls!! Can you believe that? Time to get out eh? By the way,if the headline doesnt say "No independent study" what does it say?? I used to keep all of the old wt and awakes and km but I stopped years ago but am I right in thinking that these "old" articles are no longer available on the "official" wt site? So if you did need to check anything you couldnt anyway,do any of you keep old articles and how is it you all seem to have this information? Am I missing out on something? Come on...tell all
