A comment to make witnesses ears prick up and think.
by stuckinarut2 inso the next time you are in a group of witnesses and discussion about a sad event where people died occurs (such as a car accident, natural disaster etc), just casually say:.
" oh well, that's a few less people jehovah has to kill at armageddon.....so don't be upset!...at least they now get a resurrection".
that will make witnesses think!.

I am very touched by your story, and hasitate to point out, Russell did not live in the 1800's
he was born in 1852 - died in 1916 (1852 is the 19th century) You might want to read
the book, which is only a history book, Adventism in America by Gary Land.
just knowing what the early Adventists believed will show you where Russell got his doctrines.
http://www.amazon.com/Adventism-America-History-Gary-Land/dp/1883925193
If you see and actually obtain a book by Russell, you will see the cover has a pagan goddess
wings of an Egyptian goddess on the covers. Russell wrote a lot of books about Pyramids and
Egyptology which I am sure you realize is occult. I have old original Russel books.

by objectivetruth ini have spoken to %90 of mymfriends & family.. and i have found that there are 3 basic reasons why people stay.. .

Objectivetruth - Always had an organization ? The only organization representing Christianity
was the Catholic Church from AD 325 to AD to 1517, when Martin Luther nailed the
Ninety-Five Theses in 1517 to the church door. So who or what do they think was the
"organization" before Russel started the Watchtower in the late 1900's ?

1. God has always had an Organization. The organization has never been perfect, but he has always had one.
False: The only "organized system of worship" was the Jewish Priesthood. Before that there were only
indivuals. When the curtain if the Most Holy was torn, at the death of Jesus, it signified the end of that type
of mediator in the form of an organization. After that it was one on one.
The group in Jerusalem they point to as evidence of central authority was a congregation
were the Apostles were. This Jerusalem congregation was not a centralized authority, and they
did not write letters or did they dispense rules and regulations. The only letter they ever wrote
was in fact a correction, believed by Pharsees who were Christians, of the idea that Gentiles
had to follow the Law, or Torah.
Paul wrote 14 books of the New testament and he openly says he never went
up to Jerusalem for instructions.
2. I know a lot of things are wrong, bit where else can I go? They teach more truth than anyone else.
False: Jesus is NOT an Angel for starters. They teach no truth at all:
Its malarky from the top all the way down.
There are no "classes" as in heavenly class , earthly class, the scripture used to identify the
"faithful and discreet slave" is a misinterpretation and it says there were TWO faithful slaves not one.
They have proven themselves to be False Prophets and they prevent people from being part of the Body of Christ.
3. The Organization is a Protection, you can't leave it.
The Bible is full of faithful followers who wandered the earth on their own attached to no organization.
Read Hebrews 11th chapter. The WT protects no-one but itself. the reason you can't leave it is because
it will turn on you and shun you. Which is something even the Catholics will not do, or most Protestants.

As a parent, did you ever have a swimming pool and invite neighbor kids?
by 4thgen inbeing 4th generation, i realize that am socially stunted, in regard to those that are not jws.
i am forging ahead and endeavoring to build a life outside of jw's.
i am trying as i can to socialize my child to make friends and be a normal kid.

What Listener said , all good - you never leave children alone under
age 14-16 , certainly not elementary school age. Limit the time they can be
in the pool. Fence it, so no-one sneaks in when your not there.
One friend at a time or even numbers. Like three and your boy is the fourth.
You can NOT just leave, and give children access to a pool. Do DAY camps
so the boy is with other kids in your area and probably your neighborhood.
Invite the parents over, the whole family for a barbeque. Be social yourself.
You can have the boy join the Boy's Club, or the YMCA summer programs.
They have Day-Hikes, supervised swimming, summer day camps, supervised group activities.
There are also Science Camps, Music Camps, Horse back riding camps, Sports Camps.

AlphaMan There is no man or men or special group who we need to "go through"
or be attached to, or who are the ones representing God on earth, or are a "sole channel"
John 14:6
New International Version (NIV)
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.
If a "slave class" or a governing bdy or an organization were required
Jesus never spoke of it, and neither did any Apostle or Disciple, it was
always one on one, direct access, one intermediary, no in betweens ;
1 Timothy 2:5
New English Translation (NET)
5 For there is one God and one intermediary between God and humanity,
Christ Jesus, himself human.
JeffT Old Testament ? Except the Priesthood was done away with and Jesus
replaced the Priesthood and became the sacrifice, and freed all mankind with
no exceptions and told us to take care of one another and use our talents and
feed the hungry and clothe the naked and change the world. Not condemn it.
John 12:44-50
English Standard Version (ESV)
Jesus Came to Save the World
44 And Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me.
45 And whoever sees me sees him who sent me.
46 I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.
47 If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him;
for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.

I think I remember reading in Crisis of Conscience, where Ray
Franz commented on the fact that JW's are not spiritual people.
An interesting comment, since they all claim to belong to the one
'true religion'. I think its a very material religion, always looking
to a "visible" earthly organization with a material reward and a
visible group of men leading them.
The ideas of Christianity as expressed by Jesus are things
like an inward dwelling of the Christ in you,
a mysterious oneness in the Body of Christ, which is
unseen to the human eye.
Eph 2:22 And in him you too are being built together
to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
Can you imagine a JW even saying something like that ?
Or Romans 8:11 ?
And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you,he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your
mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
Ever here that at a meeting ?
JW's have no idea at all what this is and have never heard it from the magazines
or the books they study or at any assembly they went to.
The JW's are terrified or embarrassed by John 3:3 Jesus answered him,
“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born againhe cannot see the kingdom of God.” They all think anyone speaking
of being born again has gone mad and should be shunned or laughed at.
Yet these things are the main messages of the Gospels, the good news
of the Christ. And amazingly enough, some do find their way out
and awaken and Christ shines upon them.
Ephesians 5:14
New English Translation (NET)
14 For everything made evident is light,
and for this reason it says:
“Awake, O sleeper!
Rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you!”The irony is the Awake magazine was named after the above scripture.

The new announcement in August is the redesign of the Watchtower organization
into a Cargo Cult https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmlYe2KS0-Y
It will be an easy sell the the rank and file because of the similarities of the Watchtower to these cults.
After World War II anthropologists discovered that an unusual religion had developed among
the islanders of the South Pacific. It was oriented around the concept of cargo.
This religion, known as the Cargo Cult, held that if the proper ceremonies were performed
shipments of riches (substitute: Paradise earth) would be sent from some heavenly place.
It was all very logical to the islanders. The islanders saw that they worked hard but
were poor whereas the Europeans and Americans ( replace with, "the Governing Body" )
did not work but instead wrote things down on paper and in due time a shipment of wonderful things would arrive.
The Cargo Cult members built replicas of airports and airplanes out of twigs and branches
and made the sounds associated with airplanes to try to activate the shipment of cargo.
In addition to ceremonies at the replicas of airports in the jungle there was another interesting type of ceremony.
Islanders would build a hut in the forest and the cultees would bring money and leave it in the hut
in expectation that it would grow. Sometime replicas of briefcases would be used to hold the money.
Unfortunately the money would often be stolen from these jungle banks
leaving the islanders even poorer than they were before. Sound familar ?

New Light - I've figured it out (and it's mine so don't you 'tates steal my royalties or MY followers - they belong to me [evil maniacal laughter] )
by berrygerry inso, we continue to face mounting challenges with 607 vs 587 (20 year differential), and the generation dying out.. therefore, after a personal (420 free - honest) research and revelation, it would appear that 587 is the correct launch date.. with respect to the 7 times, russell had been influenced by john a. brown into using a year of 360 days, when prescience would most surely indicate that at the time of discovery (2014) one would use the number of days of that respective calendar, i.e.. 365 1/4 days, an additional 5.25 days per year.. so, 7 x 5.25 = 36.75, which, using the biblical principle of rounding down, is 36 years.
(a day for a year).. adding the 20 year differential to the 36 years now gives us 56 years, which when added to 1914 ce, brings us to 1970 ce.. when we ask the god google, the significance of 1970, it tells us that earth day began 4/22/1970 (note not 4/20).. and who came to the aid of the woman (rev.
was it not the earth?.

New Light ! This is what will be announced inAugust.
The Watchtower is now going to be Cargo Cult. How does that work ?
They are REAL and exist in the South pacific. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmlYe2KS0-Y
After World War II anthropologists discovered that an unusual religion had developed among the islanders of the South Pacific. It was oriented around the concept of cargo which the islanders perceived as the source of the wealth and power of the Europeans and Americans. This religion, known as the Cargo Cult, held that if the proper ceremonies were performed shipments of riches would be sent from some heavenly place. It was all very logical to the islanders. The islanders saw that they worked hard but were poor whereas the Europeans and Americans did not work but instead wrote things down on paper and in due time a shipment of wonderful things would arrive.
The Cargo Cult members built replicas of airports and airplanes out of twigs and branches and made the sounds associated with airplanes to try to activate the shipment of cargo.
Although the existence of the Cargo Cult only became known after World War II the cult had developed long before, when the Europeans first arrived in the area in ships. There were legends among the islanders of their distant ancestor-god having journeyed to the west and promised to someday return. The West was thought to be the land of the dead.
At some point the notion developed among the Cargo Cult members that cargoes were being sent for them by their long dead ancestors but those cargoes were being intercepted by the Europeans. This idea was confirmed in the strongest possible way for one islander during World War II. His name was Bateri and he had learned to read and write some. One day he went into the office of military post and saw stacked up boxes labeled Batteries. Obviously those boxes were his!
In addition to ceremonies at the replicas of airports in the jungle there was another interesting type of ceremony. Islanders would build a hut in the forest and the cultees would bring money and leave it in the hut in expectation that it would grow. Sometime replicas of briefcases would be used to hold the money. Unfortunately the money would often be stolen from these jungle banks leaving the islanders even poorer than they were before.
The Cargo Cult had a name for the diety in heaven. He was called John Fromm. It is not certain how this name arose but quite possibly it was from American soldiers identifying themselves by their place of origin: i.e., I am John from Indiana or I am John from Minneapolis. Some clever business began marketing products under the name John Fromm. For example, soap bars were labeled John Fromm Soap. When it was a choice between ordinary soap and God's soap, it was no contest. It was clear which one would get you heavenly clean.Because the Cargo Cult diverted people from productive and rewarding activities it was discouraged by the authorities. In New Guinea the Australian authorities enlisted the aid of the son of a famous warrior to discourage the Cargo Cult. He was effective and as a reward the Australians gave him a trip to Sydney. While in Sydney this man visited an anthropological museum. There he saw the sacred cult objects of his people on display. When the man returned to New Guinea he spread the word that the source of the Australians power was that they had stolen the sacred art of his people and built a temple to house it. A new cult developed around this idea.
