scotoma - I went to a Seventh Day Adventist meeting and they washed each
other's feet, and mine, it was somehow a very profound experience, hard to describe.
good morning!.
"warrior" and i had an 8-hour visit yesterday centering around many of the issues discussed by jwn members.
one point we talked about was jesus' instruction to make disciples, baptize them and observe all that he has commanded us.. does a christian, therefore, need conduct his life solely on what jesus literally said, i.e., teachings contained in the four gospels?.

I second what Lost has to say. Its very weak when anytime
anyone wants to explore some non-watchtower but still believer,
discussion on this board that the "bashers" arrive. And start mocking and
making fun of anyone who wants to discuss theology,
no matter what theology, the only thing that seems safe her is atheists
and gays and any point of view that is about witchcraft etc -
But bring up a scripture, questions on the Bible and
you get cartoons of people throwing-up and mockery and bashing.
Please try to treat even people with apposing views with some dignity.
Allow others the courtesy of exploring their own beliefs
even if they do include God.
I am speaking to you as the grandmother I am.
If you can't or don't want to contribute then leave it alone.
1.the organization itself denies access to reality and substitutes its own alternate reality of counterfeit "meaning".. a.only watchtower approved publications are worthwhile reading material.. b.no higher education is to be pursued.. c.no non-jw friends or associations are encouraged with their "outside" points of view.. d.no free-style questioning of doctrine or criticism permitted.
curiousity is verboten.. e.threat of being "marked" or disassociated looms as an invisible gun aimed at members at every moment!.
2.between every real-world event and the rank and file jw's mind is a roadblock.. a.the moment of identifying is short-circuited by an interpretive moment of re-labeling in watchtower-speak.. b.all things happening are forced into a narrow storyline and propagandized as end times happenings leading to armageddon.. 3.social and personal identity is expunged and replaced by a collective persona of "jehovah's witness".. a.private thinking is red-flagged as self-centered and sinful.. b.personal improvement, welfare and ambition is labeled repugnant.
Terry THE BOOK - You need to put this stuff in a BOOK
and get it published- You really should - You have a great
writing ability
so both my wife and i are awake to ttatt.
we are still active, patiently waiting for the org to implode.
being active, it is evident this is happening as a quickening.. we were having a discussion regarding shaving & beards.
Tiktaalik - You have no good JW friends. They will sell you out to the wts in
a heartbeat if they suspect you of dabbling in independent thinking. - Sums it up
i recently had a very long conversation with my mother, about what jehovah's witnesses teach and believe now.
while i could gleam ideas and thoughts, that kind of worked with the religion i once called home.
more often then not, i had to come to a extreme conclusion.
scotoma - WOW Does that ever NAIL it .
You are my new hero. ADD
Giordano, Athanasius, Fresh Prince
all heroes. Everyone on this site should
read this thread.

free2beme - Interesting insight from the perspective of today's Kingdom Hallers.
Appreciate this insight since I came from the 60's 70's 80's pre-internet Amageddon
is next week, for SURE this time, run-for-your-life and carry no insurance crowd.
But how does this "live till you die" new philosophy mesh with the "get no advanced
university degree" that might take 4 to 8 years to become a professional in any medical
or science, marine biologist, law or teaching capacity ?? In this "new world" (pun)
of a relaxed approach and the new idea of joining the "Rapture" how can they maintain
the paranoia about other Christian churches ? And the refusal to connect in community ?
What remains is: the isolation of children and the failure to provide any
social activities or charity work or meaningful activities except passing
out Watchtowers. Even the icy cold isolation of not partaking of 'emblems'
is alienating. There is no real "Heart" or loyalty or love or Christian works.
Those who remain in have a hard core suicide bomber kind of mentality towards
anyone who does not accept the faithful and discreet slave and governing body as
their Mediator. Its much more creepy than it was in the jolly old 60's-70's.
by their fruits you will know them.
a good tree (religion) does not bear bad fruit, neither can a rotten tree bear good fruits.
true faith is followed by good fruits/works.. dead faith is followed by bad works or no works at all.. 30 bad fruits/works of counterfeit christian religions.
Parakeet - two degrees in English Literature ? From what university ? I graduated from The University
of California, College of Creative Studies, (thats where I get my creative spelling) Then Simon Fraser
in Vancouver BC. But the most useful thing I might have done was a technical associate of arts in
Architectural Drafting Technology, disjointed I know, not a clear path. I painted Murals for a Park District,
ran an After School program serving 65 children a day, ran summer camps, taught Adult High School,
taught at Vancouver Community College, Vancouver "Career" School, (a bogus private school )
I drew house plans mostly, a lot of house plans for building that were actually built, I also did graphic
art and I am a painter and show my paintings. I am still plodding along, doing art, printing out my
designs on greeting cards, setting up an Etsy Shop. Retired but need to be doing something.
for even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.
(2 thess.
how many witlesses actually take this scripture to heart and apply it in their lives.
In my observation over a lifetime, 30 years, attending KH and associating
with jdubs I saw a trend, not just in places like Australia and Canada, where
welfare and disability and social housing is readily available, but in California,
the jdus were encouraged by the WT in actual Watchtower articles to take advantage
of the what the government would give them. BLONDIE where are when I need you ??
I have known families, single moms, and who are now seniors who have lived all their
lives on some form of assistance and social housing, on purpose and by design.
The WT creates a non-contributing mentality, in all aspects of what would normally
be viewed as community and social responsibility to their own country, their own
neighborhood and their own family. They are NOT thinking: get involved in community,
get an education and be productive, do community service projects, look to improve the
lives of those around you, be connected. Its just the opposite: its isolate yourself,
stay away from your neighbors, don't do any community projects with worldy people,
don't join any service organizations, don't go to college, etc etc etc
If Pioneers DO work they are doing manual labor, cleaning usually,
and this does not build a pension, buy a house create a savings account,
or leave anything to contribute to their children, their aging parents,
or charities, its hand to mouth and then what ? Social assitance in middle age.
what would happen if a jehovah's witness claimed to see an angel or have an angelic experience?
what would the reaction of the church be if one of the governing body claimed to have seen an angel or have an angelic experience?
by "angelic experience" i mean being shown future events by an angelic presence.
Lots of people report spiritual type experiences involving connections
to angels or direction or comfort felt in times of personal meditation
and prayer, even visions of light and the sense of being lifted up
out of the material world. This is universal and has been in every culture.
The human experience is something more than a quest for food and sex
and to reproduce ourselves and then die. Thats why humans create art,
and music. I personally believe that animals have some inner joyfulness,
and even love of beauty. I think animals and people are very similar
and valued by God. They used to teach in science classes that
what distinguished animals from people, was that people use tools.
On further field study, they discovered by observation that animals
use tools also, and some planted crops, and most build themselves
complex houses or nests or places to live. Oh - sorry I digress-
Angels - yes I think they are everywhere, and there are
good ones and bad ones but we all have angels around us.
Yeah I know what about people dying, suffering, getting sick,
and animals eating each other and us eating animals,
unless your Hindu. I have no idea. The first hundred years
are the hardest, is the only answer I have come up with.
As for Jehovah's Witnesses and Angels, there are plenty of
old WT that reported Angels protecting JW's in WW11
But if you said " Hey guess what, I saw an Angel last night"
You would be considered insane or demonized.
i was just thinking today.
i heard the term been frazed as a "neutral witness".
i think that's what best describes me.
Lisa Rose wrote:This org is affecting you in

Listen to Lisa Rose, she is speaking the truth
in a very core essential way. You cannot violate
your own conscience and ignore your inner spirit
that is telling you, its wrong, something is seriously
wrong with this world view, as taught by the WT.
