  Lurking faithful JWs, here's a question for you to ponder on:

  are you in 'the truth', or are you only in 'the current understanding'?.

  how long will it be before many of the current teachings peculiar to the organization are rejected as old light and relegated to watchtower's dust bin of old light, out-of-print literature to be expunged from future issues of watchtower library cd-rom?.

  That process has been the pattern for over 100 years.

  The official JW.org under "history" shows a copy of the

  "Finished Mystery" Nothing "finished" about that book and

  it reads like the rants of a madman. Old light ? Or just ongoing

  darkness and false doctrines ? Starting with the "faithful and discreet

  slave" doctrine that is a distortion of the scripture to create a small

  body of absolute authority, claiming without it there would be "chaos".

  In reality, not chaos, but freedom in Christ and one body, one spirit.

  why opposing god appointed authority is tantamount to opposing god himself"!.

  You could pose the question: Who is the other "faithful slave" mentioned in Matt 25 ?

  There were two faithful approved slaves, one with five talents and one with two, both

  "put in charge" you could then recount all possibilities, like it applies to everyone, it

  is not about central authority, and qoute scriptures about "one hope, one body, one spirit"

  "no man is your leader, but Christ " Lots of material on this site.

  What Is The World View Of America?

  a lot of people felt that the usa's reputation was terrible, especially under president bush.

  then obama became president and we heard how the rest of the world felt that finally they had a person that would respect them and their views and work with them!

  the new president even ot a nobel peace prize because of the world's perception.. what's your view of america?

  I find Americans way more humble than Canadians ( and I am a 10th generation Canadian )

  Canadians believe themselves to be "morally superior" and that is annoying and ridiculous.

  85% of our prosperity is because Americans buy 85% of what we sell, goods and services.

  China, by comparison only buys .1% and we act like the Chinese Communist Dictatorship

  is golden. China is brutal to its neighbors, has occupied Tibet fro decades, and kills about

  6,000 of its own citizens each year by putting a bullet through their head for petty crimes

  and citicizing the Chinese government. China has not invented one thing in over a thousand

  years and we all think they are geniuses.

  Going to a meeting for the first time in a while- love bombing expected

  long story short, i have to go to the kh on tuesday with my mum and i havent been in at least a month now.

  the reaon im going is because when i got my mum to finally let me make my own decision about whether or not i want to be a jw she made me promise that i'd go to the memorial, assemblies and if she had a talk.

  she's already told me that people have been asking for me and only a few people in my cong know that i dont think it's the truth.. when i was trying to leave a couple brothers really piled on the "encouragement" and i dread to think about what it will be like when they see me again.

  I don't know how old you are but do look into all kinds of educational options

  before you get stuck in a minimum wage trap. Apply for scholarships, grants not

  dependent on grades (if yours are not high at this time) there are burasaries and

  grants based on income only, try out several career paths. I knew a young woman

  who was raised by a single mother of five in poverty as a jw and she broke free

  and is now an Attorney at Law and very succsessful, coming from a background

  of ignorance and poverty. She just showed up, at the local university and started asking

  questions and kept at it.

  Physics: What are your thoughts on life in the 4th,5th,and higher dimensions?

  if you do a little research there are many physics forums, discussions, and books about this.

  it's a bit challenging to grasp but it's very interesting.

  if there is life on this higher dimensions, they could see us yet we would be unable to see them.

  Viviane - Is there a point to your arrogance ? Or do you just like ordering people around

  and acting superior ? Otherwise get on with it, you amuse me. As if anything you type on your screen

  has any impact on me or anyone else. Must be a leftover from being a witness and thinking you

  had all the answers. You are not impressing anyone believe me. I bet you never graduated from high school.

  Mud slide in WA state - sister at Assembly

  look for it in the yearbook next year.

  there was an assembly the day of the big mudslide in washington last saturday.

  a sister's life was saved because she obediently attended the assembly and thus was not home when a huge mudslide hit her neighborhood and buried and killed lots of people.

  Seventh Day Adventists would not be at home, because they observe

  Saturday as the Sabbath and all get up early and go to church all day Saturday

  even eating lunch there. This happened on Saturday morning, they were saved.

  Devote Orthodox Catholics would have been at daily Mass. They were saved.

  Shake rattle and roll, earthquake in southland

  so california 5.1 quake around 9 oclock.

  this one was a long one.. two small quakes 3.5 /3.6 an hour before.

  Peologos - I worked as an architectural drafting technologist

  and building designer, "stiff" is not what you want

  - what survives in earthquakes is moveable structures, with steel

  strapped post and beam connections.

  No building can be "stiffer" than the lateral forces of earth movement.

  Earthquake design codes have adequate allowance for movement.

  Base plates need to be bolted to the foundation and all rods need to

  yield, too stiff and they pull out. Make sure you have "Strongtie" plates

  and post and beam connections, the building moves but does not come apart.

  Rebar is added to concrete, because concrete is too stiff and cracks under

  lateral movement, steel has tensile strength, meaning it bends, and then rights

  itself, wood also bends, too stiff materials snap and break. Skyscapers have

  'curtain walls' and moveable mullions and sway in an earthquake and right themselves.

  with ony degrees from the University of California and Simon Fraser.

  I humbly apologize.

  And I apologize for suggesting the "outdated" book by Steven Hawking

  ( since revised you would be relieved to know) not up to your standards

  I am sure. You must have Ph.D.'s in several sciences ?

  A medical question.

  i have been having pain in my left hip for around 4 years.

  got worse this winter.

  hurts at night, after walking and periods of inactivity.

  Do you exercise ? Stretch ? Yoga is good for joints. Do you have proper shoes?

  Do you eat oils like olive oil ?? Do you take calcium and Vitamin D ?

  Do you smoke ? Do you have one leg shorter than the other ? Have

  you ever gone to a chiroprator ? Physical therapist ? Had a massage ?

  Do you sit a lot ? Are you 30 or 40 pounds overweight ? Do you do any

  kind of movement like swimming ? Yoga ? so many possible causes.
