BTW, your dB settings seem a little on the high side to me.

You may get above this if a brother gets loud, or below if he talks quietly. The goal is to have these as averages, to allow for modulation. My proximity to Bethel also induces the need for that ridiculous Knorr-era 60's sound of blaring speakerphones, hence the settings

For talks and general listening it should be at an average of 68db. For singing and such, you should be at a max of 85db. Typically the amps at the cong. level should hit the protect limit at 100db or so.

the speaker made a big point of stating that any baptized jw male who was not either appointed ms/elder, or at the very least "reaching out" actively, was in fact following jesus at a distance.

he said that the only way to live through the big a was to follow jesus closely.

during the wt session, the org admits that the actions of eldubs can cause an eventual shortage of "qualified " brothers, and it has.

they speak of a lack of teaching as the cause.

in reality, it's the legalism and control issues within the org itself that have caused a shortage of men who are willing to reach out.

How Some Climb Up So Quickly?!!

our current co has not been in the org all that long, less than 10 years, and already quite a respected overseer.

i know of a few married couples in the spanish congs that are doing everything right, you know, with the theocratic schooling, the pioneering, etc., and... nothing!.

how do some seem to reach certain posts so damn quick, while others cannot make it?!

Others move up fast because they were "brought into The Troof" by a "heavy" who helps them up the ladder.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen this. People who change their lives, come from the world and make a transformation are literally worshiped by JWs. The yearbook is filled with nothing but the typical "I did drugs and slept around, and now my life is serving Jah!" type experiences.

If you grow up in jw-land, no one could care less because your life is boring, pedestrian and drama free. Plus they can't publish and sell the born-in story because it doesn't make the organization look any better to outsiders.

Spiritual AMNESTY -- Return to Jehovah

basically, from what i can tell from the new return to jehovah brochure, is that the governing body is now offering amnesty to anyone who has been gone from the congregation but now wants to return.. it claims it doesn't matter what sins you've done, or what caused you to leave, if you repent to jehovah and ask the elders to help you, and return to the meetings, you'll be warmly welcomed with no disciplinary action or judgment against you..

Fusion, the fact that this could be a new direction is a possibility. Unfortunately, at the point where the rubber meets the road, ie. the elders and co's, the tendencies and thought/decision making processes will take years to catch up.

So even if the gb for some illogical reason wanted to relax and invite people back, it would take tons of prodding and convincing to undo decades of indoctrination. There are a lot of elders and co's who view themselves as the Phinehases of the org. If people have to die, oh well, at least the cong is "clean", and they simultaneously feel righteous in their own eyes.

Often times on this forum, people hesitate to accept a new direction or viewpoints taken by the elite ruling class of jws because they know first hand that the drill sgts of the r&f will drop and fumble and make things more difficult than need be.

You are right, same old propaganda. Don't immediately date someone, just wait around and hope to bump into them at organizational events. Don't worry about if you really fit eachothers personality, just make sure you both went through pioneer school, serve on the now non-existent rbc, and the guy is an ms.

One thing that I was impressed by was some of the performances. In particular, the actress who portrayed the gal whose marriage was rocky. She really made a complete transformation from bubbly teen to desperate housewife and had great range and delivery.
