  Your figures are good.Rutherford's rule had little impact on growth as it brought about the Bible Student schism followed by the exodus after 1925.He,however,got them noticed by adopting the social exclusion policies with which we are so familiar.This allowed Knorr,as a hard nosed businessman,to provide the tools to allow the JW's to expand.As it started to grow,the need to maintain this growth became the overriding priority in society policy.
  The GB did not exist until the seventies.Before that there was Russell,Rutherford and Knorr and their word was law.
  Ray Franz's account of the arguments/tussles over this issue are worth reading.

  Hi Somebody,
  Good post,what was that quote from the 1990 WT that for the last 120 years the WT has been publishing ''delightful words of truth''.I'm glad that you've been studying your old Watchtowers like the Society suggested for further spiritual enlightenment.
  Soon they'll be demanding that you appear so that you can spread your Russell inspired wisdom with the brothers.

  Elders- "Trained or UnTrained- WHICH IS IT??

  the biggest error wt has continued to make for the last 120yrs is they leave a wonderful paper trail behind - where a serious student of study will have no problem following and seeing that so many of their lofty claims simply don't fly .

  case in point - are the elders trained or untrained clergymen as it were?.

  well for those of you who have never served as an elder allow me to share with you what elders are told about their training.

  Hi Guys,
  Thinker's wife,the WTS have been screwing up for 120 years,they have an unenviable record in screwing up or getting things plain wrong.They pretend that they know,talk some bs and then count the cost and blame ''Jehovah's people''(tm).
  I remember those special seminars where we were told that we were receiving the best training,much better than Christendom's,and now true to form the WT's lawyers say that the elders are essentially untrained hicks who are foolish amateurs with their hearts in the right place but they certainly don't make the WT liable because we haven't trained them.SURE.....
  In my job I have quite a low opinion of solicitors/lawyers,so you can imagine what I think of a WT lawyer by the name of Moreno.

  i've kept up on the topic of blood transfusions and the "fractions" of blood that are acceptable ( according to god=f&ds ).

  i've read up on bloodless surgery too.

  Yes,the 'loving organisation' has now decreed that blood fractions are a conscience issue.But still being terminally stupid they have failed to realise that the blood has to come from somewhere.But JW's don't have the 'privilege' of giving/storing their own blood for treatment.They must rely on 'walking dead' people for the blood,people who they will quite happily accept their God to massacre at Armageddon.
  Gives a new meaning to bloodsuckers,or at least gives leeches a bad name!

  why are k halls small?.

  future increase in members they get no money from the rbc.

  i understand all this applies across western europe as well.. * the rbc gets its money from congregation donations within its region and these funds are directed to where the .

  It is purely a matter of control,even if they had enough elders.I have heard elders and CO's admit as much.This is why they are against large gatherings.Fundamentally,as brought out in C of C,they do not trust the members and that's why they have built this pharasaic web of rules.

  My mother had a study with JW's when I was 14.They couldn't answer my questions then,but at 21 after finishing university,I had a study to give them the benefit of the doubt.Smack!!Smack!!Smack!!I can only think that they might have caught me at a vulnerable moment when I was pretty down at man's ability to screw things up,and I was idealistic.I still won't stand for injustice and that's why I left the JW's.Thank God that quality stayed with me.
  The people were nice too,and that congregation was quite friendly and I was never taken in by some of the weirder teachings.But I committed the cardinal sin,unusual for me,of not researching all the facts or buying in to the putting away of doubts from your mind.Sometimes I feel like I could smack them one for fooling me with that,but most of them were victims too.
  Once we moved to a new area,bigger house,at last room for a computer and internet access,it was chocks away!I was not a happy bunny when I found out about the truth about the ''truth'':(! and as an avid history student devoured every book going.I started taking Interlinears to the KH and the elders suddenly got a little worried.One of them then said in the talk that people would only be disfellowshipped for apostasy.No guess who he was worried about,especially when he inquired to CO about removing ministerial servants.He was,however,a coward and would not speak to my face.I made sure that my wife was on board and talked with her.I then resigned as a ministerial servant and stated that we were through and could no longer conscientiously teach their doctrines.The PO received the letter Wednesday and announced it at KH on the Thursday,just so that no-one would bother us at our home of course.You have to laugh,did he think that I had been taking stupid pills! :)
