yesterday, before we went to dinner at mak and sabine's, a friend called me from the kh to warn me they had mom on the phone link for the meeting (their meeting is at 4pm).
i went downstairs to see what she was up to, since i had taken the phones out, to stop her from calling everyone in town to complain about the 'abuse she was suffering' at the hands of her daughter (me).
she was standing over the speaker phone (i had taken the hand set off), and she was furiously pushing buttons, and sobbing.
Mulan,
I agree with Princess, they are not going to just let her sign over DPOA over to this woman. Trust me, those in the geriatic community are very familiar with how the mind works after a certain stage. I have seen people come into the nursing home, or even into the assisted living part of the home against their will. It is really sad, but the BEST thing for all involved. She will adjust, and if Lana continues to be a problem for her, they can decline her to visit. And they can do that...you can do that if she is admitted. Perhaps without her control, your mother may lean on you more and you can have a semi normal relationship. You gave it your best shot, you tried and continue to try. There is only so much you can do, and as JT said, add the wacky religion in the mix and you are doomed.
((((((hugs))))

Mulan,
That is the Baker Act I was talking about. The other day, when she was going crazy and called the police, she could have taken her then by saying those two words. It is a temporary, 24 hour(maybe 48) stay in a mental hospital so she can be evaluated. In this facility they will be able to evaluate her and then place her in a home. To the best of my knowledge, this is for every state. But do a search and see if it is active in your state.
As for getting her dressed and taking her...perhaps you should do that. Get her all dressed, tell her you are taking her to lunch, forgetting to mention you are taking her for a psych consult(that way you aren't lieing) then when she is in the car tell her. From what you said she will go ballistic, then YOU call the police. Or you can enjoy the good days with her, and next time she acts up insist they commit her.
As for not getting any financial support from her now, you have many options to do so. You CAN claim her and your father as a dependent, if their income is unable to support them outside of your home. It is highly unlikely that it does, when you include 24 hour aide care that they would be paying out of pocket if not for you. Also there are grants that you can apply for to add medical supplies, even new heating systems, air conditioning, new flooring, you name it! The social worker should alert you to all of this, if she has not she is being shabby. If your mother does go into a home, they usually have an individual social worker for each residence. From what I have heard, be prepared to getting many calls from her until your mother is settled in. Trust me though, they are used to seeing many different personalities, they will be able to see what she is doing. It may take a bit of time, but they will see.

Awww Mulan!
All I have to say is two words...BAKER ACT. Your mother is not the same person she was years ago. Her age and mental stage are not allowing her to make clear decisions. You have tried very hard to be supportive of her, and have taken great care of her. There is only so much you can do. If she was bleeding profusely, would you attempt to take care of her yourself? Of course not...and this situation is the same thing. Perhaps it is time to take her into the nearest hospital and let them decide if she is able to live with this woman. You already mentioned money is not an issue, but believe me, there are many, many ways this woman profits by having your mother. Grants to improve her home, the little social security does qualify her for more federal aid, a dependant on her taxes, and the list goes on. Not to mention the satisfaction this woman is getting for being such a focal point in your mom's life.
(((((HUGS)))))) If you need anything, I am here. Trust me I have spoken to many families who have come to the conclusion that assited living is right in their parents case. You are NOT failing her at all. You just can't give her what she needs, and it is draining you and your family.

on or about june 30, 2002, thousands of jehovah's witness elders around the world received a letter from "the worldwide .
christian community" urging them fully to take on their voluntary responsibility as "shepherds of the flock of god" .
with respect to child molestation that occurs among their "flock.
Path,
I support the yearly MS telethon, yet I can't stand Jerry. Go figure

WOW!
Great letter, I loved the reference to the Titanic. To illustrate, when the Titanic was sinking some of the stewards tried to stop the third class passengers from escaping via the first class area. That's what happens when one thoughtlessly "follows company orders." Precious lives are at stake!
This mass mailing is just a wake up call to the WTBTS I think. The former members have removed their blinders and are willing to HELP others to do the same! History has shown that tyrannical rule leads to much heartache and does not last long. I am so glad that thousands of letter have gotten out. Hopefully they will reach the good hearted ones who are in charge of the "flock." Those who are dedicated to caring for others. There are many good JW's and many who really love Jehovah. The direction they are going with the WTBTS undermines everthing that Jesus said in the bible. Hopefully they can see that, and one day help others out.
Thanks Randy for posting!

the guestmap is a feature at the dnc site but i thought it might be cool to for us to get a visual image of where we all are.
just 'click & hold' the map to drag it around.
you can then zoom in on your local area.
Cool idea Nic! Of course you always have some great ideas BTW any way to correct typos?
LOL @ Myself...in the middle of the Atlantic, how did that happen? haha

hey all.
i have been pretty busy this past week, and have not kept up with all the topics here.
i wanted to see what americans or others feel about the new ruling on the pledge of allegiance being illegal in schools.
Haha Okay, my bad.
Jeez that is what happens when you get out from behind the computer and get in the real world huh? Miss all the good stuff going on here.

i am cassilines husband.
i know cassiline has alot of friends that monitor this board so i thought i would post a surgery status on cassiline to let everyone who cares about her know how everything is going.
first of all, i would like to say thank you to the owner of this board, friends and aquintances of cassinline, for all the help you have provided not olny for her but for others that are out there with problems who seek the assistance from people that have a similar state of understanding about the jw religion.
((((((Cass)))))))
Thanks so much Max for giving us an update! I have been thinking about her, and hoping that everything came out okay. I had an ovary removed a few years ago, and I must tell you that there is ALOT of hormonal garbage to deal with as your body finds a balance. Her recovery will take some time, and she will need your patience.
((((CASS))))) I love ya like a sis! And can't wait until you get back here to us.

Hey all
I have been pretty busy this past week, and have not kept up with all the topics here. I wanted to see what Americans or others feel about the new ruling on the Pledge of Allegiance being illegal in schools. If there is an ongoing discussion, please give me the URLs I really would love to see other thoughts on this.
Personally, I am glad for all next generation of dub kids. They will not even have to face what many of us did when we refused to recite the pledge. I am also glad that finally people are waking up in this country and actually taking the seperation of church and state where it should be. Now if we can get our President to stop saying, "God Bless" at the end of every speech, then we are really getting somewhere. haha
