I heard all congs. with property (halls) were required by the WT to get Inc.’d with the WT. The story went that some congregation had da’d itself from the WT and made off with the Kingdom Hall. In our area this was done by a WT appointed notary and all the elders were required to sign over the halls.

Just met an ex who left her husband and da’d herself about 3 yrs ago. Her daughter who is still a JW had kept in contact but recently stopped calling. The ex-sister told me she was going crazy not having news, especially since her daughter was now pregnant. Finally she couldn’t stand it any longer and phoned to tell her daughter that all she asked was to feel her grand-child move in her daughter’s tummy before it was born. Her daughter was extremely upset and told her the C.O. had been by and told her she was not to have any more contact with her mom, who he classified as "nothing more than your biological mother". (So much for the un-severed family ties) The mom couldn’t believe this guy doing this because, years ago, he was the one who had studied with them, and apparently knew the husband’s problems in detail..
Although I don’t know any details of this family’s situation, I have noticed a peculiar tendency over the years. Many times it would become evident that a husband was acting like an ass and being abusive, at least mentally. Then the sister would leave, and end up df’d or da’d. Even though many in the congregation, including the elders, suspected and even discussed the brother’s abuse, the brother would be pitied and taken under the congregation’s spiritual wing; but the sister, who had been the victim, seemed to always be the "wicked sinner".
Anyway I’m happy to report the daughter disobeyed the C.O’s orders, had the mom over, and is now keeping touch

no blood cards this year!
by DIM inlast night at meeting they told us to just use our blood cards from last year.
in the past they've always told us how important it was to get it signed every year so that people could see our current views as jw's.....doesn't this new arangement negate everything they've ever said in regards to this?
absolutely nuts!.

I think they're having 2nd thoughts about being accused by the press of forcing the issue on their members. Remember they give out the cards and tell everyone to fill them out and sign them. Pretty difficult not to obey if you’re at that meeting. They even sent the elders to fill in the cards with those not at the meeting that night. I’ve heard they’re working on spiritual vocabulary to insure that any interviews with pubs. radiate free choice.
Personally, I always hated that meeting and even though I agreed with the policy I always felt my decision was being made for me.

DEATH OF LAZYASS
by gilwarrior intoday my mother informed me that the husband of the woman who she first studied with died yesterday.
to be honest his death didn't effect me one way or another since i hadn't seen in years and i was never that close to him.
i don't remember his name, but what i remember most about him was that years ago, when i was a kid, several of the young people in our congregation nicknamed him "lazybutt.

I used to feel that way about all the lazyasses
After going through and observing the ms and elder ladder-climbing and all the hand-stomping coming from the boots of the guys on the higher rungs I'm now convinced the lazyasses were the only sane ones in the KH.
Funny one just died in my area and the CO gave a talk saying this bro understood the more important issues. Which I believe was true in his case. Sadly the only reason the CO was kind to him in his talk was because the lazyass was his father-in-law.

I Went in Field Service Yesterday!!
by Valentine ini must say i thoroughly enjoyed doing streetwork for the first time in my life!!.
it was really cold here in chicago yesterday, snow clouds looming in the sky.
about 10 am i decided to run home for my cofee break.. as i rushed down the main street, walking quickly,i saw 2 groups of jw's w/ their mags on the main street near home.. i haven't seen any around my territory since last spring.. humph i thought.. i double-timed it home, bundled up,grabbed my stacks of silentlambs posters and ran back to the main street.. i stood on the corner, several feet ahead of them and started saying hi to passers by.

The meeting did not go well.
by Danni init would have taken more much more time to tell it all.
he told us the meeting would began as soon as the other brothers arrived.
danni: i will give you two.

Hey Danni
Wow !
Just skimmed through - sorry if I missed some details. Looks to me as if the JW’s were prepared for you (number of elders there, WT legal present on speakerphone). You’re probably on WT legal tape. The gag order doesn’t surprise. Some years ago here, Children Services began an investigation, WT legal flew in, and a few days later CS sent an apology over how their investigation was handled. The case was dropped (don’t know particulars). Lately Dateline starts filming a show and seems to have dropped the ball.... coincidence ? or WT legal threats ?
Anyway, IMHO if you’re going further, your will need some heavy press support with deep legal pockets.

ms too.

wheelwithinwheel
elders in Canada spending the weekend together too - everyone gets the new light at the same time HAHAHAHHHAAAAAAA
to give you insight into the world-shaking topics discussed - think of the annual special talk delivered worldwide from a manuscript that everyone had to attend with anticipation. A few hours later nobody could recall the subject

Loosing my fiancee'
by chelys ini am 27 year old non jw female, and my fiancee is a non-practicing jw.
his mother is very devout, and they are very close.
we live together, and he did tell me early on that he was jw, but at the time i only knew they did not celibrate any holidays, not the stuff about blood, voting, disfellowship, etc.

Hi Chelys
Sorry to hear about your situation. I think your fiancé is being pulled back onto the treadmill by 3 factors : his sickness (which has brought to bear his mortality), recent world events (that seem to have jolted many inactive J.W. back to towing the line - you see they still believe it to be the TRUTH and therefore see the end in sight each time there is a substantial world event) and finally by his devout mom.
Hard to say how this will work out. Are you prepared to wait ? Life goes by so quickly. Even if he pulls back do you want to live with this JW baggage.

great sauce recipe: (imho)
mix Dijon mustard and mayonnaise 50/50
or try your favorite B.B.Q sauce and mayoanother thing I like:
cooking super-thin sliced meat in an onion broth, mix up a bunch of sauces and serve with baked potatoes (which are also great dipped in the sauces)
this is bringing on the appetite
enjoy your fondue
