  Anyone remember when Jesus shaved ?

  A funny childhood memory came back to me recently. Everyone was accustomed to viewing Jesus clean-shaven in all the WT Soc. publications. Suddenly we were informed by the WT that there had been new light. In order to be spiritually accurate, Jesus should be sporting a beard, like all Jews of his time.

  Previously my parents had punished me for drawing mustaches on my Watchtower illustrations, but now beards were in. I was even encouraged to correct the official WT calendar with a felt marker. The calendar had come off the WT presses too early, and if I remember correctly, showed Jesus and the apostles without their facial hair, discussing the END on the mountain. I got busy altering our calendar. My parents were thrilled with the result and proudly showed all visitors their offspring’s artistic talent which had made possible their spiritually accurate calendar.

  Could this have some connection with the fact that numerous male ex-JW’s grow beards !

  Anyone else remember this ?

  Home Security Code

  i'm just curious how many of you that have/had a home security system used the code '1914'?.

  i know around here you could have broken into any jw's home on a sunday morning using it.. outaservice (who changed his code to 1975!

  What he conveyed is : well that’s an old story and well what can we do, poor old Bill is trying to keep it alive

  The WT knows by experience that public interest will shift rapidly if there is no conflict. This is a favorite tactic of the WT used in apostate, blood transfusion and even in Michael Jackson like situations - no comment

  Sure enough, the public loses interest and the heat vanishes.

  Brother now I am stumbled!

  have you ever been so dam hurt from the things done to you in the so called gods organization that you wanted to just set down cry your guts out?.

  i will list a few reasons but basically i feel that my reality has been denied to me as a young man growing up as a jw.. i was not taught to love god, but have excrement scared out of me if i did not do what they said, i too had an over bearing father who seemed to fit right in with jw's mind set.

  i can still hear him now god rest his soul, he would say every morning if he happen to hear garner ted armstrong, honey listen they are robbing from the lords table.

  Setting up toilets in the campgrounds, cleaning the stadiums before and after, trucking in all the equipment (stoves and cookers, trays, sound equipment, chairs etc.) and then hauling it all away to KH basements...all the fine memories

  What with the 8 day conventions, rooming (hah remember that !), setting up and clean-up no wonder all the good dubs didn’t have any time left to take the family on a holiday

  It's Finally Over!!

  my wife and i attended our last meeting last night.

  it wasn't so bad, since it was bookstudy and they threw a little party for us afterwards - we are moving to wa from pa next week.

  we will never set foot in a kingdom hall again - feels great.

  Oh what fond memories that brings to mind - we did it on Remembrance Day (Nov 11). It is certainly something we will remember.

  The only real friends we had inside are now just about to the point you’re at yipppeeee !

  Even though the J.W. lifestyle probably took up a good part of your time I’m sure you’ll have no trouble finding better things to do

  Congrads ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

  Some timely council:
  Keep the daily text... read it in a year or too.... it’ll bring tears to your eyes and you’ll be shaking with laughter from head to toe

  we have a thread that asks why we became jw's, so i became curious as to why some of us have left.

  what was the last straw for you?.

  mine was the treatment of my wife.

  No real breaking point, just a lot of cracks finally added up. Here’s one thing that really bugged us.

  A couple of years ago a new NWT, French edition, was brought out. Apparently a few Hebrew and Greek names had not been properly translated and were being mispronounced. The WT explanation was so feeble it was a laugh. The worst thing was that the pronunciation logic presented was not followed when it involved a well-known name. The elder who had to deal with the meeting part and explain these changes privately termed it « pretty stupid ».

  Now this happened to be at the beginning of the voluntary contribution era and seemed to be a good money-making scheme ... at least we think so.

  Everyone was told to get themselves a proper (new) bible and give a generous contribution for this loving provision.

  I remember reading from my old Bible a few months later and getting « looks » of « Oh, you rebellious one ».

  i have added the letters from friends and family in behalf of manuel beliz to the court.

  the button is on the front page of the website.

  it is odd that the letter seem to follow a similar pattern to the testimony in the paul berry sentencing hearing.

  When it comes to « defending Jehovah’s name » nothing is spared or left to chance

  There was a child custody case where the J.W’s had to win - the KH was converted into a court room and J.W lawyers grilled witnesses for days showing them the « appropriate way » to answer questions from Satan’s forces. All the locals involved were quite impressed to learn it was all in the way something is put ... but then we all know that over the years the WT have had to become experts at this game

  I heard all congs. with property (halls) were required by the WT to get Inc.’d with the WT. The story went that some congregation had da’d itself from the WT and made off with the Kingdom Hall. In our area this was done by a WT appointed notary and all the elders were required to sign over the halls.

  just met an ex who left her husband and dad herself about 3 yrs ago.

  her daughter who is still a jw had kept in contact but recently stopped calling.

  the ex-sister told me she was going crazy not having news, especially since her daughter was now pregnant.

  Just met an ex who left her husband and da’d herself about 3 yrs ago. Her daughter who is still a JW had kept in contact but recently stopped calling. The ex-sister told me she was going crazy not having news, especially since her daughter was now pregnant. Finally she couldn’t stand it any longer and phoned to tell her daughter that all she asked was to feel her grand-child move in her daughter’s tummy before it was born. Her daughter was extremely upset and told her the C.O. had been by and told her she was not to have any more contact with her mom, who he classified as "nothing more than your biological mother". (So much for the un-severed family ties) The mom couldn’t believe this guy doing this because, years ago, he was the one who had studied with them, and apparently knew the husband’s problems in detail..

  Although I don’t know any details of this family’s situation, I have noticed a peculiar tendency over the years. Many times it would become evident that a husband was acting like an ass and being abusive, at least mentally. Then the sister would leave, and end up df’d or da’d. Even though many in the congregation, including the elders, suspected and even discussed the brother’s abuse, the brother would be pitied and taken under the congregation’s spiritual wing; but the sister, who had been the victim, seemed to always be the "wicked sinner".

  Anyway I’m happy to report the daughter disobeyed the C.O’s orders, had the mom over, and is now keeping touch
