let's turn to...
i used to get into trouble for making light of the these phrases that some elders have told me are to be used only gods people.
lol that you all may know maybe:.
"well, brother that is very "commendable," just before the meeting ends the po says to those in attendance "brothers the time left is reduced," i once heard a co say to those seated during one of his talks "well now, we don't want to die at armageddon now do we, well of course not.

how did you like being called brother or sister, when you were in public.
i remember once i was inside a bank waiting in line, and all of a sudden , a brother also waiting in line, said to me quite loud, hello brother x .
i felt like a jerk, being called brother in front of everyone there.
There's always some birdbrains that don't know when to shut up. I was sitting in the rental board's waiting room which was full of people when 2 "brothers" walked in. As you can guess the room was real quiet, but the "brothers" turned up the volume to ministry school levels. They couldn't remember my first name, so called me "brother" then went on to ...what's happening in your cong. ... it just got worse and worse. On top of it they were dressed to let out the dog.
What also killed me was being stuck in a restaurant with someone who seems to have to have a real long conversation with "J" before diggin-in. One time the waitress wanted to ask this guy something about his order and stood at the table for what seemed 5 mins. while bro spiritual finished his thanksgiving. She gave me the 'is he o.k.' look so I said he's o.k. just come back later.
strange subject line isn't it?!
well - this is a bizzarre situation.
my died in mexico a few weeks ago - he had dual citizenship (american & mexican) and had moved down to cabo about a year ago.
I've driven through Mexico and encountered some hairy situations but there never seems to be a problem that can't be solved with U.S. dollars. I was with a Mexican and he would ask, "so how are we going to get this done", "there must be another way", and we would be told how much it would cost. Up here it insults us and we call it a bribe, down there it's considered the normal way to get things done...especially if things are complicated which they always are ...ha-ha.
at my hall, in the spring and summer, it would almost always be so stuffy in there that i couldn't breathe!
i swear the mugginess in there was stifling!
i don't know how many times i was there and couldn't take it anymore and left.....as soon as i'd open the door and go outside it was like a cold front just came through!
Goin to summer ass. where the auditorium was normally a/cd. No air conditioining everyone fanning many passing out. Couldnt figure why the auditorium a/c always broke down at ass. time. It worked fine the rest of the year. Then someone told me WT insisted on keeping the bill cheap with the auditorium administration and so had the a/c turned off. After all, whats the problem, as someone else mentionned, the WT big-shots were assigned to sit in the a/c adm. lounge.
when a witness talks about a person not being "in the truth", does that get to you?
or if they self-righteously proclaim that "at least, they're in the truth and not worldly", does that push any buttons?
blondie said it - "the lie"
Whenever we refer to the org. with any of our friends, who are all out, we refer to it as "the lie" and say things like "remember when we were in the lie". I must admit it took us all some conditioining to forget the "truth" term, and once in a while someone still slips up.
the calcium factor amazon reviews .
i have been blessed and directed by spirit to discover a miraculous cure for debilitating disease and the negative effects of old age.. pleae read the reviews of the book "calcium factor" for a detailed explanation .. the answer to living a long life of 100+ years in good health is explained by doctor barefoot as mega doses of calcium at least 3 or more times the officially recommended daily requirement.
you can find drug store brands as i did of oyster shell calcium (qty 300- 500mg tablets) for about $20) i have been taking 6 to 10 tablets daily for about two weeks now and already am a completely changed man.
aren't you afraid of turning into a "pillar of"... calcium?
this has been eating at me for a while.
why do jw's have to go door to door?
if christ's life was a ransom sacrifice for us, than why must we "buy" our way into the new kingdom (paradise, etc)???
Years ago I had a long discussion in service with a guy that kept telling me J-dubs are "works oriented and have completely missed the point of salvation - God's loving kindness ". At the time I just didn't get his argument, but I remembered it. Now I believe J-dubs are 100% works oriented and that this concept is shoved down their throats by the WT to:
1. keep them to busy to think
2. keep them feeling guilty they're not doing enough
3. keep the competition going (pioneer, m.s., elder)
4.. keep the org. in business
in other words control of the collective
why did you choose the nickname you did for this forum??
also who do you think has the coolest/funniest/weirdest name on the board?
i choose kelpie because that is my partner's nickname for me as my initials are klp.
finally got my wheels turning and my eyes open (Ezek 1:16-18) at least I hope so this time around
some of you may know that my parents were expected for "dinner" on thanksgiving day.
well i really don't think its going to happen now.
i called my dad last night becuase my mother, now visiting my kids in south texas and bringing them here to see me, said they had "stuff to do on thursday".
Sorry to hear about your situation. Its the same with our family. Last time I talked to dad about refusing a family reunion, I asked if he was planning on waiting to be in his coffin to get everyone together (hes 80+). I felt sad to be so blunt but wtheh its the sad truth. But dad is sticking to his guns. I guess he wouldn't want to lose the race for eternel life so close to the finish line.
hi friends,.
i posted a few weeks back and mentioned a recent wt article that implied russell's writings were somehow beneficial.
i thought the irony was worth sharing.. the watchtower, april 15, 2002, page 28.... "as observed in 1925 by remigio cuminetti, banchetti showed 'much sympathy' for the work of the bible students and was 'fully convinced' of the doctrines as explained by them.. on one occasion, banchetti was discussing russell's writings with a man named j.campbell wall.
pure dog puke ... and they keep returning to it
quoting what somebody supposedly said 3/4 of a century ago ... ha!ha!ha! ... just like all the other unsubstantiatedWT quotes and the guy's to dead to deny it.
probably this Banchetti got his "vigorous and deep joy" from laughing at Russell's crazy ideas and diagrams "solidly founded on the Holy Scriptures."
Most J-dubs don't even realise Russell was a loon.
