Ours was 2414 - In fact I believe our whole circuit used that code. It goes without saying that our C.O. and elders were the whipping you to get out in service, quit your job and pioneer kind.

Kingdom Hall Alarm codes.
by JEMIMAH injust back from renovating my holiday home in the south west of france.
beats yorkshire anyday.... anyway thought i would share this little account with you.. as most are of you are aware, the alarm code for about 90% of kingdom halls is 1914 (nineteen fourteen).. i t seems though that for the last 8 or 9 quick builds or refurbs in the uk, the brother who installed the numbers into the alarm control panel used the numbers 1975 and explained the number as one nine seven five not the the easier version (ninteen seventy five).. trivial joke or honest mistake, either way this poor brother has been rumbled and has to to meet with 2 elders investigating on behalf of a body of elders to see whether an apostasy charge will be brought.. he is supposed to be meeting with them over the next few days.. .
a very sad jem, who is sick of the whole elder abuse game.

Maybe you should give it some time. And then be real gentle. Don't make her feel you're pushing her. Don't even mention the WT again. If you ever get together again be a good friend. Show her a good time. Get her interested in things other than religion. If she feels you trying to influence her away from Jehovah you've had my friend.

I seem to recall that the WT said, as a defence, that they, like pretty well everyone else, weren't aware of the pedophile problem 20 years ago. And now they go and admit they've been collecting data for 20 years and doing nothing about it. WOW!
"a list of many persons who could be harmful... to our congregation." Could all dfing data be compiled in this dbase? After reading the story of Ray's tape destruction in C. of C. I'd bet on it.

Preparing for attack
by Sadie5 inlast night on local news,(tulsa,ok) they warned of a terror attack before the end of the week.
urged us to stock up on bottled water and foods.
have sheets of plastic on hand to cover vents in case of a dirty bomb.. anyone else hearing any warnings?.

The government doesn't want to get accused of having not sufficiently warned everyone before the next attack. I think if you live or die will depend where you are at that time. I see plastic and duct tape as good to soothe those worried and useful to drum up support for a war, but as protection? I doubt it. The guys who deal with these products do so in a controlled environment and are suited up specially when they have to handle them. If soldiers have to face an attack on the battle field are they even well enough equipped to protect their lives? Even if plastic and duct tape did give some protection, eventually oxygen would get depleted, food would run out, and you would have to emerge to face the bleak situation.
This reminds me of the nuke attack scares years ago. Even if you managed to survive in a shelter, what would you come out to eventually? If there is a chemical or biological attack, pray you are very far away, or very very close.

Astronomers now believe the universe is 13.7 billion years old (If I heard right). So even if the WT and a lot of other people believe the end is around the corner, the chances that God has planned to intervene in your lifetime (less than 100 years) are practically non-existent. However, keep in mind that crazy humans could do something stupid.... but in that case we'll all be toast.

Got this first hand from a horrified JW mom.
This JW mother had her young daughter with her in a store's fitting room after service. The little girl asked very loudly, "Mom is that lady a JW." The mom quietly replied, "No dear" The little girl then added in a very loud voice, "Then she's gonna get destroyed at Armaggedon huh, mummy"
Needless to say the mother didn't answer, but put her hand over her kid's mouth and stood quietly until the lady in the next stall left.
Talk about 'training up a child.'

People have always believed the sky is about to fall. When Russell first started his little group it was because as the end of the 19 th century approached there were many that believed the end was imminent. Armageddon was coming and the faithful would be raised into heaven. My father-in-law belongs to a group that more or less believed that they were going to be caught up and taken to heaven before 2000 and those left on earth were going to perish. They still believe it, just think it's been delayed.
Rest assured many who lived through WW1 and WW2 when bombers flew over their cities and Europe was in ruins believed it was the end.
The JWs have always believed the sky was falling. Without getting into dates, think about pretty recent history the cold war when JWs believed it was going to end tomorrow, nuclear or the Peace and Security stage when JWs believed destruction of the system and World Peace was for yesterday. And maybe this will reassure you: some JWs believed the FLQ terrorist crisis in Quebec, Canada that brought the army into the city of Montreal, was the beginning of the end. Guess what, aside from those who died from natural causes and accidents, everyone's still around.

My JW Folks
by CraigSA inso now they have branded me an apostate and not fit to talk to, they have never met their 1 and 2 year old grandchildren and are smeering my name all over the place because i wont send thm pictures and let my wife email them with information on whats going on in my family...my outlook is simple...either they except my whole family including me or they can put the fact that they have a son and daughter-in-law and two grandchildren out of their minds...but now i am starting to doubt that...whats everyones thoughts?

My sister's dfing tore my mother apart. Some time I'll get into it. However dad got sick and things started to look up. But as soon as his health got better, guilt set in and the Borg ruled again (as Rayzor fittingly puts it; i.e see my icon).
Unless your parents free themselves of the mind control of the WT there is no way for them to change. Interestingly in our situation I learned that if the WT changed its point of view on dfing, my parents would be prepared to change theirs. So it's not the Bible or their personal comprehension that's important, it's current GB regulations that count.
