Well I haven't been to assemblies but I've put in quite a few service hours lately. In each successive dream I'm getting better and better results. It's getting to the point where I'm wondering if I'm being summoned to go forth into Macedonia to declare the good news. Is god telling me something here? Maybe I should go back to the hall or at least phone in a report.

I went to the Assembly....
by teenyuck ini was at home and a man came to the door...i knew immediately he was a jw brother, however, he was quite handsome (no offense) and very well built.
he looked like a cross between brad pitt/tom cruise/evan marriott.... he wore a very nice dark gray suit that formed perfectly to his sculpted muscles...he had a very nice book bag.
black, brushed silver hardware.

History of Head Covering for JW Women
by UnDisfellowshipped init is not a case of her being appointed to conduct a congregational meeting.
in such cases the dedicated brother should offer the prayer, and the sister may conduct the study with her head covered.
for if a woman does not cover herself, let her also be shorn.1 cor.

A 12-year-old baptized son was encouraged to replace the Alpha male in his absence. He presided over his mother and sisters with due seriousness. One day the boy was invited over to lunch by a young friend, the son of an un-baptized study who attended meetings. The un-baptized dad told everyone to bow their heads. The 12-year-old "brother" refused and told the dad he shouldn't be offering prayer in his presence. He added that he would represent the group. Needless to say this caused quite a scene and it was decided that everyone would do their own silent prayer pending the WT's guidance. The boy's argument was he was the baptized representative before Jehovah. The dad felt that it was his food, his table and his house. Things went to arbitration. Can't remember how it all turned out. Just remember thinking how the WT dicks were just like the Pharisees.

Elder at my door last night
by JH ini was taking a bath, when the door bell rang.
i got out of the bath tub and went close to the window, and saw an elder go back to his car.
the last visit i had was a few days before christmas, from the co and his wife, while visiting our congregation.

Years ago I helped an elder renovate his basement so he could rent it out. We worked pretty steady for over 2 months, every spare minute we had. Some time later I had to move and asked the same elder if he could give me a hand that Sat. A.M. His response was to tell me he had to take the group. The funny thing was when we were working on his basement he missed pretty well every Sat. in service.
This isn't the reason I left but it sure hurt.
I noticed over time that this attitude shows up often. I guess Jesus saw it too when he talked about corban and everyone begging off. Maybe it's human nature but it sure isn't any better in the J-dubs.

Desire to talk to an elder
by Eppie inhey everyone,.
i have a question: i am happily faded but i recently got the desire to talk to an elder of my old congregation.
the problem is that he doesn't know i am faded (i kinda disappeared from jw archives while moving to college), and that i do not want to get into trouble by this.

In my experience a lot of elders can't keep their mouth shut. They have to share what they know about you. This sharing varies from the wife, other elders, the C.O. to anyone who's interested; depending on the elder you confide in. As others have said here also, keep in mind that even a good friendly elder will turn on a dime to df you if he see fit. I think you should see a therapist if you really feel the need to work out feelings. If it's religious questions bothering you, go see some religious counsellor. You'll probably find yourself more at ease to talk to someone you don't know anyway.
Above all keep up the research... and I believe you'll eventually feel no further need to talk to a J-dub elder.

Kingdom Hall Alarm codes.
by JEMIMAH injust back from renovating my holiday home in the south west of france.
beats yorkshire anyday.... anyway thought i would share this little account with you.. as most are of you are aware, the alarm code for about 90% of kingdom halls is 1914 (nineteen fourteen).. i t seems though that for the last 8 or 9 quick builds or refurbs in the uk, the brother who installed the numbers into the alarm control panel used the numbers 1975 and explained the number as one nine seven five not the the easier version (ninteen seventy five).. trivial joke or honest mistake, either way this poor brother has been rumbled and has to to meet with 2 elders investigating on behalf of a body of elders to see whether an apostasy charge will be brought.. he is supposed to be meeting with them over the next few days.. .
a very sad jem, who is sick of the whole elder abuse game.

Ours was 2414 - In fact I believe our whole circuit used that code. It goes without saying that our C.O. and elders were the whipping you to get out in service, quit your job and pioneer kind.

Maybe you should give it some time. And then be real gentle. Don't make her feel you're pushing her. Don't even mention the WT again. If you ever get together again be a good friend. Show her a good time. Get her interested in things other than religion. If she feels you trying to influence her away from Jehovah you've had my friend.

I seem to recall that the WT said, as a defence, that they, like pretty well everyone else, weren't aware of the pedophile problem 20 years ago. And now they go and admit they've been collecting data for 20 years and doing nothing about it. WOW!
"a list of many persons who could be harmful... to our congregation." Could all dfing data be compiled in this dbase? After reading the story of Ray's tape destruction in C. of C. I'd bet on it.

Preparing for attack
by Sadie5 inlast night on local news,(tulsa,ok) they warned of a terror attack before the end of the week.
urged us to stock up on bottled water and foods.
have sheets of plastic on hand to cover vents in case of a dirty bomb.. anyone else hearing any warnings?.

The government doesn't want to get accused of having not sufficiently warned everyone before the next attack. I think if you live or die will depend where you are at that time. I see plastic and duct tape as good to soothe those worried and useful to drum up support for a war, but as protection? I doubt it. The guys who deal with these products do so in a controlled environment and are suited up specially when they have to handle them. If soldiers have to face an attack on the battle field are they even well enough equipped to protect their lives? Even if plastic and duct tape did give some protection, eventually oxygen would get depleted, food would run out, and you would have to emerge to face the bleak situation.
This reminds me of the nuke attack scares years ago. Even if you managed to survive in a shelter, what would you come out to eventually? If there is a chemical or biological attack, pray you are very far away, or very very close.
Take Rudy Giuliani's advice: Get on with your normal life.
