Had dinner in a resto with a dub friend. He told me the bros were very very concerned about the latest court proceedings concerning Blainville. Seems the WT thinks it might lose. His words reporting an elder’s take "if the outcome is negative this could be very serious". He seems to think other municipalities might follow Blainville's lead. Asked me to pray for a favourable outcome. Thought I would pass this on so all you people could pray also.

Corollary to Minimus Meeting Poll: How Many of You ENJOYED Them?
by Room 215 inas i think back over nearly a half century of going to meetings that i can count on one hand the number of meetings that i could label as inspirational or in the least bit exhilirating.
i think many if not most jws regard meeting attendance as a duty, or test of their perseverance, a sort of installment pre-payment on their idyllic post-armageddeon homesite,.
was there ever a point in your life that you enjoywed and looked forward to going to the meetings?

If you asked anyone what the meeting was about most didn't have a clue. Why? Borrrring. One time the C.O. told the brothers flat out their talks were boring. Why? They were all based on the same old W.T. rehash. I remember one brother who came to give public talks who was a teacher. His talks were super-interesting. One time he brought a few worldly books onto the platform and read a few lines from them. He got into big trouble for not keeping to his W.T. edited outline and not long after was taken off as an elder.
I always noticed that most people parked their bodies at the hall and allowed their thoughts to wander. So promoted thinking... sure... promoted thinking about other things.

Need Help Badly!
by mackey ini have a very dear friend who is a jw and i am trying to find a way to open her eyes and make her aware of the bulls**t they spew as "truth".
i can sense a hint of doubt in her, but cannot openly talk with her about it.
i gave her a copy of cofc, but she didn't read it and now she doesn't trust me.i need to find a way to open her eyes or at least get her thinking without actually mentioning her beliefs.she made a couple of comments that have stuck with me.

Hey Mackey
This is a lot like the lottery. You got to be real patient. And there's a good chance you won't be a winner (even if you do manage to help her out).
There are a lot of great people out there, don't waste too much time standing around and buying tickets. Set a date for cutting you loses.
All the best, Wheels

Another Frustrating Phone Conversation
by teenyuck inmy mother just phoned.
she just wanted to say "hi"....supposedly.
her--how is your husband?

I sure can relate. When we first faded, my mom kept asking about my wife. Some conversations she'd ask how she was doing 3 or 4 times. She believed she had the fading problem all figured out. She is totally disinterested in anything that doesn't have a theocratic ring. If we do get into any subject she always manages to mention that things are sure getting worse in Satan's old system. If I do mention some personal point, I'm told to watch out what could happen. So my phone calls pretty much mirror yours. We do get to talk about the weather though.
Donations and charity – ha! That’s supporting Satan's old system and everybody knows none of the money ever gets to the persons who really need it anyway. The WT taught JW's to be old stingys, maybe they're regretting it since they brought in the donation arrangement.

I was heading off to work early Sat. morning 2 weeks ago. As I walked up the deserted streets I noticed a young man sauntering along ahead of me. It popped into my brain that this guy looked like a JW – greatcoat, earflaps on his hat and bookbag. As I began to overtake him, he gave a practiced swing sideways, with a tract in his hand, and said "How're you doing today?". I wondered who this nut-case could be, out in service at 7.20 in the morning, on the day of a snowstorm, on a deserted street, so I asked around. Apparently he's the new addition to my old congregation. A special pioneer that's been parachuted-in by the WT. .....puttin’ in his time.

Hi LP
Here is my list of things you should do:
1. Find yourself another Bob.
2. As a last service to this Bob give him the URL of this forum and tell him it's just brought up too many questions about the WT teachings and administration. Then if he's interested let him sort his life out by himself.
3. Then move on and live your life without any JW influence.

JH this isn't a joking matter. I would have let it slide if you had been willing to share your winnings with your friends but now it turns out we've been had, I'll just have to report you for buying that ticket you scanned. I'm sure the elders in Cap-de-la-Madeleine will be very interested to hear you've become a gambler. Sorry, but I have to stand up for what is right.

Post your favorite JW "DEMON" story
by MoeJoJoJo in.
we've all heard different stories floating around our congregations of different ones(bible studies, or brothers or sisters) having an encounter or 'problems' with demons.
what was your favorite?.

1. A sister was having terrible trouble with one leg - the pain was so intense she could no longer walk on it. Because she couldn't get to meetings or out in service an elder visited her. On her desk, he happened to notice a music-box with a dancing ballerina holding one leg in the air . On a hunch he asked where she had got it. She had received it from a relative and it turned out that discussing this with the elder jogged her memory. Apparently the generous relative practiced demonic rites. The music box was promptly destroyed, the pain disappeared, and the sister resumed her spiritual activities.
2. A pion. sister suffering from depression and insomnia remembered she had bought her bed second-hand from a strange looking individual. After speaking with the elders, it was decided that it would be prudent to destroy the bed. ¾’ s of the cong. went to the dump for the bed burning ... no kidding. The pion. couple slept on the floor and the sister’s health improved ... for a while.

Welcome IWD
I think the reason the Awake takes the "own decisions" stance in the case of luaus is that GB members, visiting Hawaii, have attended them. I distinctly remember seeing slides of GB members and other high ranking WT officials attending one of these pagan celebrations... oops banquets, that the local brothers had graciously organized to welcome them.
Young girls dressed in traditional costume danced for the visitors and placed leis around their necks.
Now would it really be realistic to believe that the GB would ever admit to having done something wrong.
