Wow, the old privileges list. Reading this thread makes my stomach churn. It brings back memories of the ladder at the JW Kingdom Hall. Any brother who didn?t make it up the rungs was a complete spiritual failure. Even little kids wondered what was wrong with a dad who wasn?t good enough to be an elder or even a min. serv? Yep, it brings back the good old days when there were the elders, the min. servs., their wives, the pioneers? and the others. Or, to quote one brother?s platform slip-up: ?those serving Jehovah whole-souled, and the mere publishers.?
So to all lurkers?be re-assured, you will not only be associating with misfits and lowlifes. Some here were of elder calibre, others did actually make it to bethel and, would you believe it, there are even some former COs and DOs. Print the latest list and post it on your bulletin board at the back of your virtual Kingdom Hall. You can feel safe now.
Watching NYPD I?ve sometimes imagined Andy having a discussion with a former JW elder. I hear it something like this : ?So you were an elder, that don?t mean dick-all. Thirty years huh, well it sure took you a long time to wake up, pal.?
jst2laws you sound like my 85-year-old dad who sees everyone in his little world as either someone with privileges or a slacker. But I forgive him. He?s 85 and he?s still a WT drone. Sorry to all who want their names up on the list but I agree 100% with Flower. I?m sad to see that some were part of the Lie for years, didn?t learn a damn thing, and want to carry on with their seniority lists. I?m not re-assured or impressed one bit.

I remember when our cong. incorporated. At the time the story was that a group of apostates had taken over a congregation and made off with the WT?s Kingdom Hall. Seems the local brother's believe their hall, built with their contributions, belongs to them, but the WT considers the hall THEIRS. The society had the corporations set up to make sure no other hall?s were ripped off by evil apostates. At least that was the story we were told. In our area only congs. that owned halls were asked to incorporate, a JW attorney made up the papers and everyone signed on the dotted line. I recall phoning the out-of-town lawyer to ask how the signatures could be witnessed long-distance and he replied- ? We?re all brothers here - sign the paper?.

HARSH FINAL COURT DECISION IN VICKI BOER V. WATCHTOWER TRIAL
by hawkaw ini have some unique and troubling news.
i just got off the telephone with scott boer, vicki boer's husband and before that vicki.
her honour, justice anne molloy, has just ruled on the legal cost issue in the boer case.

$5000 ? where was this case heard? in small claims court? and then giving the victim costs ? I think this says plenty about the judge?s opinion of the WT and Vicki?s case against them. This judge needs to be educated about WT abuse.

Had dinner in a resto with a dub friend. He told me the bros were very very concerned about the latest court proceedings concerning Blainville. Seems the WT thinks it might lose. His words reporting an elder’s take "if the outcome is negative this could be very serious". He seems to think other municipalities might follow Blainville's lead. Asked me to pray for a favourable outcome. Thought I would pass this on so all you people could pray also.

Corollary to Minimus Meeting Poll: How Many of You ENJOYED Them?
by Room 215 inas i think back over nearly a half century of going to meetings that i can count on one hand the number of meetings that i could label as inspirational or in the least bit exhilirating.
i think many if not most jws regard meeting attendance as a duty, or test of their perseverance, a sort of installment pre-payment on their idyllic post-armageddeon homesite,.
was there ever a point in your life that you enjoywed and looked forward to going to the meetings?

If you asked anyone what the meeting was about most didn't have a clue. Why? Borrrring. One time the C.O. told the brothers flat out their talks were boring. Why? They were all based on the same old W.T. rehash. I remember one brother who came to give public talks who was a teacher. His talks were super-interesting. One time he brought a few worldly books onto the platform and read a few lines from them. He got into big trouble for not keeping to his W.T. edited outline and not long after was taken off as an elder.
I always noticed that most people parked their bodies at the hall and allowed their thoughts to wander. So promoted thinking... sure... promoted thinking about other things.

Need Help Badly!
by mackey ini have a very dear friend who is a jw and i am trying to find a way to open her eyes and make her aware of the bulls**t they spew as "truth".
i can sense a hint of doubt in her, but cannot openly talk with her about it.
i gave her a copy of cofc, but she didn't read it and now she doesn't trust me.i need to find a way to open her eyes or at least get her thinking without actually mentioning her beliefs.she made a couple of comments that have stuck with me.

Hey Mackey
This is a lot like the lottery. You got to be real patient. And there's a good chance you won't be a winner (even if you do manage to help her out).
There are a lot of great people out there, don't waste too much time standing around and buying tickets. Set a date for cutting you loses.
All the best, Wheels
