I just got hold of the WTS Aust branch 2005 Financial Report

as mentioned in another thread, the watchtower bible & tract society of australia is refusing to give me my personal records, though i believe they are supposed to under the aust privacy act.

they claim to not be under the legislation, which exempts businesses with less than 3 million turnover.

anyway, i purchased their financial report that is lodged with asic to find out what the turnover is ($16million).

I have been keeping the Australian branch financial records for about 10 years. The way they change money around is a gem. Once they made a large mistake with their accounts as one year they said that one hundred thousand dollar error was made with watchtower travel that was eventually corrected. Plenty of money was made with the international conventions a couple of years back. This went through the Watchtower travel branch of the Australian branch.. I have a heap of financial info that I could send if people are interested.

Is it possible to hijack your publisher card from cong. records?

I was good friends with the PO and moved congregations. I asked him for our cards and he gave them to us. He figured I would keep them. We have not been to a meeting for over 3 years and even though the elders at the new congregation know where we live they leave us alone. We are not officially 'sheep' they have a card for so no shepherding.

how about if a brother just decides to be bald, by choice?.

Completely bald heads are banned at Bethel. Bro Losch made comments about it and since then young black brothers have to have a bit of stubble on top. When they leave bethel they go back to the bald look.

Whatever happened to Watchtower Lynette?

do any of you recall lynette from the watchtower - the only example that they ever used of someone who was df'd and claimed it was a good thing?

did this girl stay in the truth or did she fall out later?

I know Margaret very well, she did get reinstated however she is now inactive. I spoke to her about the article and she agrees she probably said those things however none of her family are 'in the truth' now. She is a wonderful person and sadly, her father died in the last week. She is away at the funeral at the moment. Her father was a faithful witness till his death and never judged her for her actions.

I do not post very often. I will be attending the DC this year with my wife and have been interested with the approach many are taking (well, those who will bother to attend!). I, also will be 'contributing' some interesting messages into the contribution box. As a quiet protest I have purchased a UN tie clasp. gold in colour, and with the distinctive UN map of the world. I plan to wear it whenever I am there. How can anyone be upset with me? I can hardly read (especially after a few wines at lunchtime!, Fri, Sat and Sun) so I am not doing it to get access to a library card. If you happen to see a short, fat, balding person wearing the clasp say hello (unless they are members of the writing committee!)

I know Margaret very well. She was reinstated however she and her husband faded many years ago. Her sister Lynette is still in though. Because she faded her family still contact her.

the house had a facelift in the 70's and is looking a bit shabby now.

John Safran did do a piece on JW's in Melbourne, Victoria. He attended a meeting and went out witnessing. He tried to get a pioneer couple to run away when someone sprayed water on them and another incident with a dog. He may not have gotten enough 'fun' footage to make the show work though. I will be interested if the show goes to air.
