Is there a reason to remain a JW other than for family?

this strikes me as an important question.

in my short time on this forum it strikes me that many contributors are quite open about keeping a foot in both camps.

some are apparently even elders, serving in positions of authority within their respective congregations.

Feeling that I am more of an "observer" here on JWN, having never been a JW myself. I have kept most of my opinions to myself, but I feel the need to finally say my piece here

I have read all of the threads regarding AAWA, Postive, Negative and indifferent.

But I just CANNOT wrap my head around all of the negativity about this group!

OK, some people may not love the name... And yes, I FULLY understand the issue and problems caused with the breech of confidence when people were added to the group who shouldn't have been.

HOWEVER, How can anyone fault a group who are attempting to make Positive change?? Why are SO many people so quick to want to see them fail? I just don't understand?

just had a visit, didnt bother to answer the door, but they stayed for ages....guess they counting time .

i realise 2 things (1)i have to build bridges in order to replace the ones that will crumble behind.

Problems with the "Bogus AWAA Fan Page"..

good afternoon jwn... .

i`ve spent the morning and part of my afternoon... getting to the bottom of... why names were added to the awaa fan page... it`s a dangerous thing to happen in our world... faders can be outed,we can lose,family,friends... the results can be an absolute disaster... .

aawa "did not" create the facebook awaa fan page.

For the record, it IS now locked down to admin-approval only for adding new members, and it IS secret.

I've noticed a strange phenomenon happening at my home:

For the last 6 weeks or so, we've had witnesses on our doorstep at LEAST twice a week. Not sure what's happening or why they are so persistent.

Never once before this time have I had them in my neighbourhood. And not once have we given them a moment of time when they've knocked.

I'm starting to think maybe I have "Watchtower Pheromones" LOL

Questions Regarding the New Light on the FDS

it's my understanding that the old light regarding the faithful and discreet slave was that in 1918-1919 jesus appointed the faithful and discreet slave over all his house.. but under the new light, it's a two-stage process.. now the "truth" is that in 1919 jesus appointed the governing body to provide spiritual food in due season and the gb will only be placed in authority over his domestics during the great tribulation.. all of this is wt nonsense, but in order to get jws who believe this stuff to think about the implications, my questions are:.

1. what will the future appointment authorize the governing body to do that is not yet authorized?.

2. since under the old light the governing body has wrongly believed they have had this authority since 1919, doesn't this mean they have been wrongly exercising authority that jesus hasn't yet given them?.
