His followers were furious and to remember him they hung photos of him in the electric chair and wore necklaces of an image of him in the electric chair. How would this make you feel?"

  Graven Images

  maybe some of you are familiar with the study guid that the j.w's brought to me.

  its called "what does god really require of us?

  " in chaper 2 they mention graven images.

  the frist thing you need to know is the saints or as you might call them the "annointed" are ALIVE in heven.not like a dead anything. you say thay are worshiped then you give no evidence of worship only the asking of favors. i ask my live relatives to help me why can't i ask my live sants too?

  but it is obvious that many Catholics do venerate those types of images.

  wrong maby you need to read the catechism. venerate or worship?

  At times when disasters strike Catholics have been known to pray to certain saints for protection or to kiss or clutch a cross in hopes of evoking some magical blessing from above.

  lol like i said asking is not worshiping.

  "blessing from above" only you could make those 3 words sound like a negative. maby you never recieved a blessing from above

  tonight i attended my first al-anon meeting--it's for families of alcoholics.

  i've been having trouble with my daughter and drugs.. but anyway, the meeting was in a catholic church area.

  patio34, your first Al-Anon meeting. your bigest step to understanding. as far as the Catholic Church, you will find that the WTB&TS inc. never ever told you the truth about them. every thing you think you know about them you will find to have been half truths or lies.

  WTs new light on being anointed???

  just read this in the latest wt july 1st 2001 page 11 par#14:.

  "if we live according to god's word, we receive jehovah's holy spirit.".

  there ya have it.. all ya need is a bible, live it and your anointed.. they now determine who receives holy spirit.. wow!.

  New Cult Tactic?

  my daughter was babtised at the houston disrtict assembly over the weekend so i was more or less forced to make that one day attendace.. there was a pioneer sister who was explaining how she was getting so many japanese and phillopino bible studys.. she said that her and her husband took some foreign language classes so they could at least communicate with these people a little.. here is what they do; they find these ones that speak very little english and they tell them they are going to help them to speak english by studying the bible with them.. that really blew me away when i heard that.. should it have?

  Free literature?

  i haven't been over here for a long time, looks pretty busy.. i am in a discussion on another board about the "donation" arrangement.

  the jw's claim "all" literature is free, and nobody id pressured into "donating" for what they take from the hall.. now in my old congregation that wasn't so.

  we were reminded all the time about "donations" and making sure we asked for donations in the field service.

  what kind of conmen would give free stuff to the mark? you take, take, take then when thay are dry you cut them loos and keep them from talking to the other marks about it.

  Gleaning at Bethel

  want to see bethelites act like greedy scavengers?

  just check out the tail end of bethel family breakfast, lunch or dinners.

  for those not familar with this phenomenon, gleaning was when bethelites could basically bring their tupperware dishes down and store up on the leftover meals once the family was dismissed (usually by prayer, except for the bethel dinner).
