unless you are famous for something how long are you really remembered?.
maybe you are remembered at most by your grandchildren, but then your presence in the universe is gone.. so, really, what difference does it make whether you die in your 40's or your 70's, your memory simply lingers another 30 years at most.
Five generations seems to be the magic number in my family. I guess the longer you live the longer you are remembered.
my husband and i got into a discussion about joining the local catholic church, signing up for 2.5% of our income and getting married by a priest.
never went to church until 5 years ago.
we agreed to look into it.
teenyuck,
Since your curious about what goes on in a church. I thought, I would give you this very good link to Catholic Answers. I think, you'll find all the info you need to satisfy your curiosity about the mass and most questions you may have about what Catholics really believe.
the concept of life on other planets really fascinates me.
the thought of intelligent life even more so.
so, whenever i read headline.
When I was a kid I saw a UFO but as it got closer I identified it as a plain. (boy was I bumming) So I saw a UFO for 20 to 30 exciting seconds. I can't help but think if that plain were heading in another direction I would be swearing I saw a Space Ship until this very day.
after all I thought, if it is flying and I can't identify it, it is odiously form space. I know better now, but it was soooo exciting I'll never forget it.
since i am new on this forum, just thought i'd share my story.
(though it seems typical on here) born into jw's.
parent's nutty jw friends told them to raise children like nazi's, and not allow them to do anything, or associate with anyone other than jw kids.

.
my hubby & i had a debate tonight, so i'm kinda taking a poll..... my hubby says we should stop immigrations and start closing up the borders - except in cases of political asylum or a family member.
.
immigration has all ways been about cheep labor, form the Irish to the Mexicans. as long as there is profit in immigration, it won't stop. Look at Mexico for example, we could close the border but the farmers need Mexicans to pick, that's the way it is. The companies aren't about to let public opinion interfere with there profit margin, so I don't think it matters much what we think about it.
MrMoe,
The statue of liberty faces France, the birth place of liberty, to remind us we were not the first or the best. That "give me your......." crap was added to distract people from the real message of lady liberty.

i saw the thread on tbn, and felt this question was a good one to pose to the board.. .
tithing is being preached more and more in many christian denominiations.
a chrisitian is under obligation before anything else to give 10% of gross income to the church.
My opinion on Christian churches and tithing 10% is that they are just another con, run by men who use Jesus to get rich. Same old revival scam, new tent.
dear brother's and sister's in the so called truth,
i was never baptized, as i just never fit in to your organization!!
1914 has come and gone and yet, the world is still going.
Good day oldman,
welcome to JWD. the worst thing I ever said to my farther was that I hoped he would be able to remain a JW in good standing for the rest of his life. He didn't "get it" but I still feal guilty for my harsh words. I think you will find that most of the posters here are on there way out or like you and I, never bought in to the cult.
from one goat to another peace
Willy
