Why do most brothers work in the cleaning business?
by JH inwhen i joined the jw's many years ago, i couldn't get over how many were working in the cleaning business.
i know this permitted them to go to the meetings, out in the field service, and work without any conflict.. where did this trend start?
is it like this world wide?

Is JW just another denomination?
by John Vogel inhello :) i suppose this is my introduction to the forum, though i am not sure if i will actually post and read much here.
i did go through several posts, and didn't find anything helpful, though i did find many posts interesting... anyway, i am not a jehovahs witness.
i hope this doesn't immediatly diqualify me from posting this question here... but basically, i was wondering just what is jw?

Members bring there own motivations with tham but at its core,
the fundamental underling motivation of the WT is the same as any entity, that is to live, to continue to exist. -

aernt they loving and wonderfull - what is this a way for them to try and gain favour at the fact that people can have it cleaned but will rather let loved ones die from not having it in them !

Recently here in the USA a man, trapped a loan in the woods cut off his hand and part of his arm to free himself. This got me thinking, if he eats his arm he would still be a cannibal, right. so, how does the WT justify the "eating" of ones own blood? How can they lend support to the "eating" of ones self? if a transfusion is like rape, what is like masturbation?

you are messing up the 100% ratio. here is what you do: go to your friendly neighborhood elder and tell him your frends name and what the CCJW is wrong about. that should change the number of JWs in good standing, by -2, who think the org. makes mistakes.

To publicly state that the WT is wrong, mistaken or in any way incorrect is a DFing affiance in and of itself.
In a round about way a witness can admit the org. makes mistakes but if the witness should say the org has made a mistake on any contemporary subject, he's called to the carpet and we all know how that ends if he doesn't back down fast.

That reminds me of a Babylon 5 episode were this kid needed an operation to save his life but his parents said if he was cut his sprit would leave his body and his body would become a demon the doctor did it any way so the dad and Mom killed the demon.
i thought that could never happen....little did i know

A series of Animal Rights questions
by zucker ini was just thinking about some information i read on a animal rights website (peta.org) and decided i would get your feedback since you seem like a fair crowd.. do you think the majority of people in the u.s or in industrialized nations know about the horrible conditions that animals face everyday under the context of food production?
do you believe that if the conditions that animals faced were exposed on the tv screen as much as say long distance telephone service there would be as much consumption of animal products?
if you are a meet eater, ( i honestly don't mean to belittle you in anyway) why do you eat meat if you are aware that it's production causes extreme pain to other living things?

I eat meat because I'm an omnivore. sometimes, once or twice a year, I kill one of my sisters rabbits skin/gut it, make a sweet stew. I don't feal bad for the rabbit any more then I do for the carrots. To live is to eat to eat is to kill.
