No, outoftheorg, sorry, neither name sounds familiar to me. I spent most of my jwdom in North Park Congregation, and those are the people I am most familiar with. I was a city girl here for most of the time and was only an active witness for a couple of years after I moved out of town.
Hopefully, if you come here, we will find your friends.

hillary, yes, it is extremely sad that this happened. It is horrible that this innocent man was killed by someone so depressed that he drove himself into a building (and must live with this added burden). My heartfelt condolences go out to all who are involved and I'm sure that is how most people feel about this situation.
I thought that the reason for most of these boards was to express religious beliefs. It stands to reason that most of us were or are jws and that we would discuss these beliefs in life and death situations. Maybe I missed something, but I don't see any posts here as being opportunistic.

I've left this area a couple of times and always miss it. I miss it more than I ever missed MA, where I was raised. (Sorry, Jim)
Garbage Girl is from this area, too, and we have a blast when we get together. I think a little mini-exjw fest would be fun. I would really like to meet yas!

Yes, Jourles, Lake Murray/La Mesa and another congregation shared the hall. You can see it from the freeway and it's near Anthony's Restaurant. It's the same one. Looks like we live in the same area. Maybe we can all have an exjw get-together. Would any of you like to do that?

So this man took this job as a janitor BECAUSE of living his life as a Jehovah's Witness. So, let's face it.. had he not been a janitor working in a pizza parlor.. he would not have been hit by that car, and he would not be dead. So is Jehovah directly responsible for his death?
Reborn, this is where the wt does its usual flip-flop and will quote scriptures like Ecc. 9:11...unforeseen occurrence befall them all. They will say he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Edited to add: Why would Jehovah spare a mere woman and not a well-loved elder?

((((Karen)))) That was my first self-help book, too! Another book I read was, Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway. That's a really good concept and I apply it often.
((((Bay)))) There are many things in my life I am grateful for and there are people that I feel honored to know, but there is this gloom deep in my gut that doesn't go away. It's just there, part of me. That doesn't mean I don't smile and laugh a lot though. I've learned to live with the sadness and can deal with it most of the time. When I can't, I have to get through it. It gets so bad that all I think about is dying. What I've learned over the years, though, is that the mood does lift eventually and I am always happy that I am still alive.
often in society we let every business and organization have there day.
it seems that we do not want to stifle freedom with endless restrictions, so we let people go to a point that will either bring success or failure.
the thing is, those are not always the results.
It is good that jws are hearing it over and over about the child abuse issue. One can only hope that it will get through all the brain-washing and they will see things as they really are.
